Merkado
Supermarket opened its doors last Friday in UP Town Center, its the first and
only supermarket for the UP Town Center mall in Katipunan Ave in Quezon City. I
also learned that day that Merkado Supermarket will be the carrier grocery brand
in any upcoming Ayala Malls and maybe soon they will also add this supermarket
brand to their existing Ayala Malls.
The birth of Merkado Supermarket in
QC is brought to you by the joint venture of ALI Capital Corp, a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Ayala Land, Inc and Entenso Equities, Inc, a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Puregold Priceclub Inc.). The two company made AyaGold, as their
company brand name for the Merkado Supermarket.
Merkado Supermarket is
bringing a friendly and relaxed environment and bringing fun and ease to grocery
shopping.

Merkado
Supermarket occupies a 3,900 sqm of floor area and carries over 20,000
merchandise mix to food, fresh meat and seafood, canned goods, baby products,
baking supplies, herbs, fresh fruits and veggies, personal care, pet care,
kitchewares, baked food and many more.
I also learned that they also sell
imported products that are supplied by SnR.
The
difference of Merkado Supermarket to other grocery stores anywhere in the
Philippines, is that they have a much more organized category of products. They
no longer followed the practice of other grocery store in placing the imported
items in a different aisle.
It means that all local and imported item in
a category where they belong. You wont get lost if you need to buy an imported
brand of tea or coffee, all of it are located in one aisle and it’s a coffee and
tea galore aisle haven.

Remember, if you will shop here, make sure you
bring your own eco bag. Because in Quezon City, they have a city ordinance to
ban all kinds of plastig bags. They are the first city to carry that ordinance and was followed by other cities in Metro Manila and provincial cities.
