I
was in the home of an Italian brand Minotti Manila General Manager and Living
Innovations President Ferdinand "Ferdie" Ong here in Forbes Park. Me and the rest of the tech geeks
are not there to talk about furniture, but we are there to test and try the most
talked about internet connection speed with 1Gbps. It’s the fastest internet
speed that is available and offered to consumers. I just can’t think of how I
can live and what I can do more with a super fast internet connection speed.
Im already fine with a 10Mbps or 20 Mbps, but acquiring an internet
speed of 1Gbps for your home, is so unbelievable and Im sure it’s a dream for
all.
PLDT
Home Fibr really show off their 1Gbps speed service through the home of this
Italian businessman. Although a rep. from PLDT didn’t mention and not revealed
how much is the monthly subscription to acquire 1Gbps.
But then, PLDT
Home Fibr likes to mention that they offer symmetrical speed that gives users
with equal internet upload and download speeds. I already wish for this and I'm
happy to know that PLDT also speeds up the upload using a fast internet speed.
If you noticed, during the early release of LTE network, it can only serves the
fast download and not the upload.
PLDT Home Fibr is now offering a Power Plus Plan P2899 for the 50 Mbps.
Customers who apply before January 31, 2016 will receive a speed boost up to
100Mbps for 6 months of their subscription. According to PLDT, their PLDT Home
Fibr is now available in 1,600 villages nationwide, just visit their website to
see a list of villages that is now ready with Fibr.

I also learned from a PLDT rep. that they don’t just offer the 1Gbps to their
customers. PLDT Home Fibr will require the customer to meet the requirements
such as – Fibr connection location, laptop or computer hardware and how you will
use it. This is to make sure that the customer will receive the 1Gbps with the
use of the right specs for laptop and computer. The PLDT Home Fibr will connect
via LAN and this require a super fast computer to achieve the 1Gbps internet
connection speed.
I tried connecting my laptop directly via LAN to PLDT
Home Fibr 1Gbps and I just received only 2Mbps internet speed due to the low end
specs of laptop that Im using --- laptop processor, memory and hardware specs
really matters if you want to stay connected to much higher internet speed.
Machines such as laptop, computer, router, smartphones and mobile
devices have limits in connecting to the highest internet speed. For mobile
devices they can receive up to 30Mbps speed, but that still depends on the
router that send the signal.
To achieve 1Gbps speed, you still need to
plug your laptop with higher specs via LAN to PLDT Home Fibr.
Tried
and test --- The PLDT team downloaded the newly release Call of Duty Black Ops 3
game, and they finished downloading in less than 30 minutes --- downloading the
game patches which I believe to be over 40 GB of game files.
Here
I tested the laptop connected via LAN and logged on to Call of Duty Black Ops 3.
The machine really matters if you want to experience the fast internet
speed.
Here
I am…. downloading and updating some Windows 8 files on my laptop
I connected
to a PLDT WIFI router connected to PLDT Home Fibr with 1Gbps internet
speed.
The
mansion in Forbes Park is connected via WIFI to the PLDT Home Fibr. I noticed
that they have a PLDT FamCam almost every corner.
A
PLDT Telpad in each area of the room.
The
TV set at the living room is connected via PLDT Home Fibr. They are using the
TVolution internet TV stick to power up and transform the TV into a smart
TV.
With
the TVolution internet stick, we can now watch iFlix movies online
You
can also play games via the Tvolution internet stick, just download or stream a
game via PLDT Home Fibr.
Here’s
the WIFI Router, we connected all our devices here while its connected to a
1Gbps
My
Asus Zenfone 2 is testing an internet Speedtest
Here’s
the test via Zenfone 2 Selfie smartphone. That’s the total of download speed it
can get.
My
2nd smartphone – the Kata M3, can only connect to a 6Mbps WIFI speed, that’s the
limit of my smartphone machine connected via router.
Hello
ladies!
PLDT
Home Fibr can now connects to 1Gbps, this is a new tech for consumers, and Im
sure we will wait for more time in order we can call this a normal or common
internet speed in the Philippines.
As of now, people who can afford the
expensive monthly subscription can enjoy it exclusively with the 1Gbps speed.
