HOPELINE - a phone hotline that can help save life and fight suicide

I remember in the past there was this radio and tv ad - "ikaw ba nalulungkot at walang magawa", Im not sure if the ad is about a phone party line or a hotline for people who are alone and there's an attempt to commit suicide. If my memory is right, then that hotline is for the hopeful people.

Im not sure how many people called that hotline, but I can say that talking to someone for advice is very helpful and this clears your mind and it can help take away the pain you are experiencing and this remarkable people behind the hotline are giving you a chance to move on and believe that everything is not final and there's always hope waiting.

I learned that the hotline still exist, but on a different telco service. Globe still have this HOPELINE, in partnership with Natasha Goulborn Foundation (NGF),  HOPELINE is a 24 hour suicide hotline were you can call for help and seek advise to your problems, there's still hope waiting and the people behind HOPELINE will be there to listen to you, but if you talked to them, make sure that you listen too.

HOPELINE can be reached to the ff: numbers: 804-HOPELINE, 0917-558HOPE (4673) and 2219.

All line are toll free for TM and Globe.

Globe and NGF recently organized an animated short film, they invited college students and indie animation creators to come up a story about saving someone's life.

There were 20 entries that was submitted for the contest, but one stood out among the rest. That's the 40 seconds animated short and winning entry of 21 year old digital artist Vince Serrano. His entry with title "Companion", the animated short is about a lonely boy that received a 2nd chance after attempting to kill himself.

“Globe is a long-time partner of NGF in providing the information and communications technology infrastructure for HOPELINE. Being an ICT company, Globe also believes that it is its duty to protect and educate the people on the impact of technology. Through the video, we hope that we can also prevent young people from taking their lives due to cyber bullying which causes a lot of pressure and stress,”
- Fernando Esguerra, Globe Director for Citizenship

“We received a number of exceptional submissions but Companion stood out among them with its very clear message of desperation and hope. Through this video which will be distributed via social media and select Ayala Cinemas, we are confident that we can reach out to more people and provide proper intervention to those who need assistance,”
- Jean Goulbourn, President of NGF.

I heard the news from NGF about the mass suicide incident by teenagers, this was  not reportedly properly by our media. Its about the group suicide of 10 year old kids in a beach island, it was so horrible. I didn't know about it but if you dig up the police news and statistics you might learn about these teenage suicide.

So if you know someone that needs help. Suggest to them that they should call and talk to HOPELINE.
