Not just a telco company that can provide you internet connection or load on your smartphone, for Globe’s mission to create a purpose and build a better nation, they are not just focusing to bring the latest technology to consumers, but they also have development programs that can help a person to enhance their skills in using digital technology and tools, one good example here is the Globe PRISM Digital learning Program.
PRISM is a three-week professional development program conducted by Globe Telecom. It involves a two-day immersive bootcamp, blended project-based learning, and personalized coaching for a total of 1,000 educators all over the country who are teaching the new Media and Information Literacy (MIL) subject in Senior High School as well as English and Social Studies at both K-12 and higher education levels.
Participants for this program were nominated by Globe and the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) for each region and city. Its a nationwide selection conducted by the PEAC National Secretariat were they process and screen nomination submissions from school nationwide. The selected teachers will be trained via distance learning for three weeks with program provided by Brightspace Integrated Learning Platform. Teachers will be doing some activities and projects using what they’ve learned from the program that helped them level up their skills in content development in using digital tools , tech and software provided by Globe and Brightspace Integrated Learning Platform.
We went to Globe PRISM Pampanga last weekend, and we learned that the program is now on its fourth leg, which is here in Pampanga. The other three program were Mandaluyong City, Naga City and Cebu City.
Michelle Tapia, Advisor & Head of Globe’s Education Strategy & Innovation informed us that the final Globe PRISM program will be in Cagayan de Oro, no schedule yet but they will announce once the Martial Law is lifted.
At the Globe PRISM Pampanga, there are over 150 teachers who joined, coming from Manila, Laguna, Baguio, Isabela and etc. They’ve also invited us to visit their Globe PRISM Digital Learning Expo at Holy Angel University in Angeles City, Pampanga, to see the presentation of the learning program of Globe PRISM teachers and how they can use digital technology for their lesson and also teach other teachers to understand their students and how digital literacy are important inside the classroom.
“We want to provide students with digital environment, so that they can learn anytime and anywhere. There are some countries that are progressive and more developed, their students and teachers are more proficient in using different learning platforms, applications, and it actually provide more access to students, that can help give good quality educations, anytime and anywhere. So we are extending the learning beyond the classroom. In some classrooms, there are no digital platforms, you can actually playback your teachers if you can't understand, in traditional teaching, students are shy to ask back the teacher to show the lesson over and over again and we can't playback teachers in classrooms, but we can do that in digital platforms”

At the expo, It's great to see that Blogging was taught at the Globe Prism. We met a group of young teachers and they presented to us their blog projects and shared that educators are blogging the things that they can learn about the youth and the generation Z, they share their thoughts, their findings, their learning, and proposes activities for students.
Its a diary-blog type, open for all, and be shared to other educators in the country, its a way to help others to understand the mood, behavior and minds of the present generation of youths, knowing them can help the educators incorporate it to their lesson plan.
All of them are first time to blog, but as one educator said, he already enjoyed blogging after launching his website/blog.
The group--Red Mission, is all about the younger generation, studying what makes them tick. What are their technology habits? What tools do they use? How might we teach them better? Teachers in this mission get to write blogs, read online articles, use graphics and apply various research methods to understand GenZ learners deeper.

For other groups, I also spotted at the Expo that they are taught on how to make games, yes, as in game development, but more on a basic type or game designing by using simple tools provided by Google Documents, Slides and Powerpoint. The games are used as a digital tool for students to learn while having fun.
There’s also an expo contest for teachers. Globe Prism will award one person for the most developed and most with improvement.
This is just a start for Globe PRISM, there will be more development program that will be organized soon, we're also hoping a collaboration with me and the Philippine Bloggers Network team to teach blogging, social media and use digital tools for graphic designs, photography and many more, these new learning can also help our local educators be equipped with the latest digital tools and skills that they can use for teaching our kids.
