Globe MyBusiness and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde signed a MOA for a three year research grant that will be used in Philippine education. The grant is about the research for digital learning, once proven effective, the research can be applied in school and also be part of an educator's way of teaching to their students.
Here's what we learned from the MOA signing
- the research grant will be used to fund two academic researchers to be conducted by full time DLS-CSB faculty who are screened after a rigorous selection process to promote further research in the field of digital learning wherein available technology will be used in order to effectively enhance one's learning experience without replacing traditional methods
- faculty candidates will have to propose research topics that revolve around digital learning and future trends: teaching and learning, pedagogy, or learning spaces in Philippine education
- if selected, the grantees will be given an entire school year to complete the research which will then be presented at a colloquium.
Why they need to research for the future of learning?
Because in this generation, students now have shorter attention spans, and they know how to operate devices with little no coaching, and have direct access to information, whether it is validated or not,on the internet. The advances in technology have shaped the way we learn in significant ways.
They did this already last year when they invited educators and teacher in Pampanga, Globe MyBusiness successfully launched the PRISM workshop and seminar series, a professional development program designed t help Filipino educators in K-12 and high education, to become proficient in technology-enabled instruction and content development
We saw the tools used by educators, and most it are based in laptop, PC or mobile devices, they utilized the power of the cloud and Google and Im impressed that the new teaching tools based in tech are much more attention grabbing. Im sure students can learn more while having fun.
