I went there just to check it out and also I’m very curious on its set up, my schedule to visit that event was supposed to be 10am, but I got lazy in traveling all the way from Cavite and I decided to go there a little late, but then I forgot that I need to go there early to meet up my toy group – Toy Soldiers 1:18, we have an exhibit of all GI JOE and Cobra toys and the exhibit was called – the movie diorama. Lots of figures and vehicles of GI JOE will be put up on display and the diorama exhibit will change every 2 hours, its like a way of telling a story in toy diorama set up.
I just arrived in the venue at 11:30am and I made a quick visit in our toy exhibit booth, then did a video interview with Glen, Papa Bear, Firefly and other members of our toy group Toy Soldiers 1:18. Glen explained to me their set up of the diorama and he said that I arrived on time to take a final glimpse of the 1st diorama and it will be changed in a few minutes. It was a GI JOE setup, when Cobra troopers in their HISS tank crossing a jungle set up road and then around it were GI JOE armies were hiding and prepares for a big ambush. Glen explain that in the animated series, Cobra forces always do the ambush thing to the good guys, but here in their moving diorama, the good guys will do a little payback by giving a big ambush fight with HISS tanks and Cobra Vipers.
The GI JOE moving diorama was conceptualized by our group Toy Soldiers 1:18, this is a big move in preparation for our GI JOE convention next year J
And for the other side of the event, there are a lot of toy sales and exhibit, there are also familiar contest set up, and also big big big sale and discounts offered to event patrons.
I spent 45 min at the event and then I went out to attend another event in Makati.
Here are some of the 2 kinds of feeling I encountered that day.
The bad part
1. The event is like a clone of our event – Toy Con ( same set up)
2. Our event contest concept were copied – toy photography contest
3. Heard many people say that it is the Philippine Toy Con, which the real deal is NOT the Toy Con event, but another title of an event that exist years ago
4. crowded
5. less booths and attractions
6. non buyers are roaming around
the Good part
1. all toys are in sale and in big discount
2. the only event I can buy my toys ahhaaha, because I can’t buy in our event at Toy Con because I’m very busy in my event production
3. very accessible area for me after traveling from Cavite
4. entrance is free
5. I met some friends there
6. I received lots of freebies from my friendly exhibitors
7. bought a discounted Transformer toy
8. another event participated by Toy Soldiers 1:18
9. Love to see those Fat Boy Studio’s superhero statues
10. saw actual new toys in the box
11. bought a super sale Mighty Mugs Star Wars toys from 2rats
12. received comics freebies from Comic Odyssey
13. discount toy from Great Toys
14. free sticker from Stikfas
15. air-conditioning is fine
16. it’s a two day event
17. excited to visit it again next year
18. I can join in any of their contest.
I hope the people involved creating this event won’t get mad at me..
I’m just posting a bad and good points on what I feel. Nothing personal okay.
I just want to support everyone, but sometimes I have this feeling that I can’t avoid that our Zagu drinks are being copied and been introduced as Pearl Shakes.
