day 3 of the 4th Toys and Collectibles Christmas Fair
day 3 is a teaser of new stuff for the coming weekend. I just saw new boxes of goodies from exhibitors and all buyers are hanging around and waiting for new items to arrived. I just heard about that Transformers bust statues were sold at a crazy P500 each, then someone bought the entire box! awwww nothing left for us, but they say the shop owner will bring more boxes this weekend. I went there at around 8pm and saw some shoppers roaming around.

Also like to share that our exhibitor Fully Booked just dropped down all their collectibles to 40%, so better visit their giant booth in the middle if you want to grab some collectibles and statues.
happy birthday to our Father of ToyCon - Vic Yap hehhehee

Lolo Dad’s Brasserie introduces exciting menu for the Holiday Season

I'm going to visit this soon at 6750 Makati. If you have try it already, just share your reviews and comments here. I know the venue will be great place for Christmas dinner or hang out.

End the Lunch Special on a sweet note as Chef Ariel Manuel brings the delectable Banana Split to the table consisting of Vanilla and Almond Selecta Ice cream with Banana bread

Among the strip of Malate’s finest dining choices, it is Lolo Dad’s that gained a reputable image among the authorities of gastronomy. People who frequent the vicinity can testify what that image means, claiming that this café is truly worth experiencing. True enough, those who have dined there have become living testaments to Lolo Dad’s hard-earned glory. That same spark and good taste that ignited the Cafe’s success can now be experienced in Makati, bringing the Lolo Dad experience closer to busy metropolitans. But this time, it comes in the form of a brasserie.

A brasserie in Makati
Except for the price range, Lolo Dad’s Brasserie is nothing short of the Café in Malate. The same trademark quality of food and service fills the simple and minimalist structure of the 6750 venue, easily complementing the grand dining experience. People who frequent the place have become accustomed to the Brasserie’s unique way of tickling the palate, making no excuses or reasons to justify why dining there is a must. “We created a Brasserie in order to give a more affordable Lolo Dad’s dining experience to the people,” said Ding Ayuyao, general manager of the Brasserie. Howl's moving castle movie
I'm such a late bloomer for anime in this year and I just watched this Hayao Miyazaki movie called Howl's moving castle. It's been years for me in lurking behind the anime closet and I'm glad that I devoted a special time few days ago to watch some Miyazaki flick, you know that you should reserve yourself a 2-3 hours time if you want to watch a Miyazaki movie, because all of his movies are so long. I love his films and want to recommend it to everyone to try watching all of his animation movies. I started last year 1999 in Princess Mononoke and then I decided to search for more.

You will enjoy it because the movie is not just for adults, teens but also for kids. Each movie has a meaning and purpose to understand, most of the movies are about war, environment, family and friendship. If you see some old films of Miyazaki, you will be comfortable in looking on same designs and also elements that can be found in his new ones. The Howl's Moving Castle is an example and saw some elements that's been used from Laputa: Castle in the sky, and then later on design from Howl's adapted to Spirited Away movie.
The most enjoyable part in Miyazaki's movie are the talking creatures, they are cute and lovely, even the villains are creepy and scary to kids, Lace is so bothered not to watch the Mononoke movie, she's still scared on those Shinigami creaures and little white creatures that rattle in the forest.

If you have time, try to watch his movies, you can start off with Princess Mononoke, then go watch Howl's Moving Castle and then Spirited Away, I like to recommend this latest movies, because it is more comfortable for your eyes in looking at new style and with modern animation. But if you love the old school animation with lots of super detail, then grab his old movies like Laputa, Nausicaa, Porcoroso, and that movie about Racoons, I forgot the title..  But for the kids and babies!, let them watch My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service.

If you have seen some of his flicks, or want to try it, then post your comment here.

Pilipino Komiks compilation of Lapu Lapu komiks by Francisco V. Coching

lapu lapu ad
I just found this poster in my Facebook and it was posted by a 2nd degree network and I'm surprised that they re-published and compiled a comics by Atlas Publishing, it's one of the early komiks done by our comics master Francisco V. Coching. I went to Gerry's blog to confirm its availability and saw some information that the compiled comics priced at Php120 is already available in all National Bookstore outlets. The Graphic novel was published and released during the 50's and I'm glad that Atlas Publishing is back again re-releasing the great comics with awesome artworks done by Francisco Coching.

I already finished reading the graphic novel book "El Indio", also written and drawn by Francisco Coching, it was the best book ever for me, the artwork is very timeless and project a true artstyle by Filipinos in comics. I also missed the launching event of the book last week at National Museum, but saw Dennis Villegas' blog post via Gerry's blog about his coverage of the event, really awesome talaga!
