11 minutes to tie the knot

I just realized that it took only 11 minutes of our time to finish this and tie the knot. I remember Paulo Coelho's 2003 novel "11minutes" that the character Maria's life revolves only in 11 minutes in making love. If you read that book, you know what I mean, but here in our story, 11 minutes is very different.

next year it will be a more bongga celebration. pramis.

I'm ready for the TIMBALAND Shock Value II Manila Tour concert

I got my VIP tickets already, and one lucky Justin Timberlake fan will join with me at the VIP area tomorrow night (just like what we did in the Paramore concert). I was about to attend the press con for Justin Timberlake and because that I'm still in Tagaytay I let our coverage team to go there, but I just receive a sad news that the press con was canceled, and Justin will be at a welcoming party in Encore in this hour. I also received a phone call that I'm invited to interview Jojo tomorrow, I hope that Justin will be there too to join with us 8 hours before the main event.

thanks to Blog Bank for sponsoring my ticket and also to our tickets promo giveaway here in my blog.

Darna Museum rises in Laguna "HERBERT CHAVEZ D SUPER COLLCETION"

I was strolling around in Facebook and then I stumbled the Facebook photo album section and found my Facebook buddy Herbert Chavez having an online showroom of all his Darna collection and it was a mind blowing collection for me and its the first time in my life to see a hard core all Darna collector. You'll see the old and new collectibles from the comics, tv, movies and other merchandise. He also collect custom and replica costumes, Barbie dress as Darna, bust statues, posters and even a life size Angel Locsin Darna! wow! I'm not really sure if that the same sculpt based on Hobby Master's Darna sculpture. He also collects not only Darna but also some female Pinoy superheroes memorabilias and pics and autograph of Darna stars.

Check out more below for photos and info about the museum. This home based museum is one of the finest alternative space for Philippine komiks and pop culture, same goes to Gerry Alanguilan's Philippine Komiks Museum.

Chris Tiu and Lexi Shulze take the lead in the collective call to _Help Fight HPV._ pix2
According to US data, HPV or human papillomavirus is the most common sexually transmitted infection. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that 50% of sexually active males and females will be infected with HPV at some point in their lives. While most infections clear on their own, depending on the virus type, some infections can cause HPV-related cancers while other types cause genital warts. Many people with HPV do not show signs or symptoms and they pass on the virus unknowingly.

The final Alice in Wonderland pocket watch goes to our last blog contest winner

Pocket Watch - lo-res
photo lifted from my blog post contest

The last Alice in Wonderland pocket watch goes to Ria Tirazona aka

her winning entry:
my favorite part of the movie was towards the end when Alice told her suitor and her sisters cheating husband to, in kinder words, shove it :-) not only did she turn down his proposal, she made me smile when she turned back as she was walking away and danced the jig that the mad hatter did before she left the underland.

i like how she broke away from societal expectations and showed that it is okay for women to be strong and empowered. i like too how she got up on that ship and sailed away as a partner of her fathers former business associate. these scenes reminded me that it is important to stand up for what you believe in despite and in spite the rules that limit, bind and constrict you. As long as you are doing what is right, go believe in the impossible, right? :-)
thanks so much everyone for joining in our contest, we will have more contest and giveaway of limited edition movie merchandises and props in the future. It was hard to judge and select the finalist, and thanks to our movie PR for helping me get an official winner. Entries were selected and judged it, and not revealing the names of the contest participants.

Thanks also to Walt Disney Studio Philippines for sponsoring our blog contest.  see you all in the next contest.

The Pacific - HBO 10 part mini series premieres on April 3, 2010

The Pacific also revolves around near countries, and we are not that sure if the action will have a setting in the Philippines, I'm going to watch it and find out if the action will be seen in our soil. The launching of The Pacific is amazing, me and some media were transported to Corregidor island, were the American and Filipino vs. Japanese war took place in WW2, one of the stronghold base and defense in the Philippines.
If you love HBO's Band of Brothers, then don't dare miss a new war movie called The Pacific, 10 part mini series in HBO. This will be the epic and highly-anticipated mini series and also the most expensive HBO mini series in history, they used USD $200 million for the productions of this movie that is based on the true stories of Marines in the Pacific Theater of World War II. The Pacific will premiere its two back to back episode on April 3, 2010 at 9PM, Saturday, in HBO and HBO HD. It will be shown first in Asia here in the Philippines, less than three weeks after it's US premiere. (read more below)

Ben Cabrera paintings - lost and missing by Fed Ex

This is a shocking news and very depressing to know that 2 paintings by Ben Cab was missing or maybe stolen while it was picked up and secured bty Fed Ex. Arvin our art/culture blogger reported this in his blog via a post from Lopez Museum. The paintings was about to ship from L.A. to Singapore. If you know anything about the paintings that is being sold elsewhere, pls report it.

here's a snippet of the letter from the art gallery

March 8, 2010

Dear Ben,
I cannot even start to tell you how genuinely sorry and mortified I am to be writing you this letter.

After two weeks of back and forth, I finally received notification from Fed Ex, instructing AndrewShire Gallery to formally proceed with a claim against the company, since they had failed to locate the two paintings that were shipped via Fed Ex from the Gallery in Los Angeles, to Singapore.

The irony of course is that Fed Ex picked up the paintings, carefully wrapped and package-sealed in a tube, at the Gallery in Los Angeles on February 26, and delivered an empty tube to me in Singapore on March 8, with the cover having been carefully sawn off, but with my address and details clearly stamped on the tube.

I have already filed a police report in Singapore, and it is my earnest hope that their investigation will reveal the details that Fed Ex is withholding from me –

March 27 Talk at Lopez Museum

Beneath the Image: A Technical Analysis of Sample Works of Fernando Amorsolo by Ricky Francisco
March 27, 2010, Saturday, 2-4 pm
Fee: Php120.00
Contact Person: Fanny San Pedro/Jane Pagkalinawan
Contact Details: 6312417/

Contrary to the belief that science and art are on opposite poles, both fields do come together to generate new knowledge. In the context of a museum such as the Lopez Memorial Museum, the coming together of science and art is in the work of conservation. Another is in technical analysis of artworks. On March 27, Saturday, 2-4 pm, a lecture on a preliminary technical analysis of the works of Fernando Amorsolo will be given by Ricky Francisco, collections management consultant of the Lopez Memorial Museum. The lecture will go into the process of technical analysis and the findings. There is a fee of Php120.00 to attend this lecture.

As collections management consultant and during his internship at the NHB in Singapore, Mr Francisco undertook this using data found in Philippine art history books, and detailed visual examination of the works using the naked eye and equipment such as stereomicroscope, UV and Infrared Photography, of the measurable properties of sample works. By these means, he was able to gain a better understanding of the artist and his techniques.

The Lopez Memorial Museum is at the ground floor, Benpres Building, Exchange Road corner Meralco Avenue, Pasig City. Museum days and hours are Mondays-Saturdays, 8am-5pm, except holidays. For more information, call 6312417 or email or You may also go to the museum's website and its blog for information.

The winners are:
Week 1 - Must-try food/dining
Winner : Lowell Aguirre "Z crepe at Zaibatsu Cafe"

It's time for you to give the Z crepe a's not nearly as expensive and boring as they think a crepe is! And to make your first time more memorable, be sure to try Zaibatsu Cafe's Zai Crepes!
It's a dessert that delights the eye, and tastes delicious too. A blend of whole cherries accented with chocolates and other sweets, folded into a light crepe, covered with whipped creme, for a lush creation that you'll sure to love.   Zaibatsu Cafe chose their name, as they felt it embraced the vision they had for their own lives, ... bursting with energy, always moving, full of life and life giving (love their fantabulous ceiling!). They have tons of mouth-watering appetizers but my own personal favorite is the Zai Crepes!

Here's a tip from them,
If you want to get lucky in the next year, try this simple plan, cook up a crepe in your frying pan (oh they won't give you their secret recipe). Hold a coin in your left hand, and then, flip the crepe up into the air with your right. If it lands safely back in the pan - the money will come pouring in throughout the rest of the year. Try this! :D

me with my funny boy scout hair cut inside Abenson, Shangri La mall, trying out that LG 3D TV

It's Sunday today and this should be my rest day, but it turns out that my work day will invade my regular rest weekend. I have lots of backlogs of coverages, video blogs, blog post and promotional stuff for my blog and will update and post it one by one later and have it set to scheduled post. I love going back to the beach, I'm waiting for future invitation of beach resort events or maybe a nice trip away from our technology hehhe.
