Our first biggest ferris wheel in the Philippines that was launched in 2012 - the MOA Eye, was on fire early this Oct 10 at around 10am. I just picked up this news from a news beat that was shared on Facebook.

I got worried because I love this ferris wheel and I was there when it was launched and my family tried riding a one 15-minute ride last 2012. I hope they can replace all parts and relaunch this before the holiday season
I'm glad that no one was hurt and the ferris wheel is not yet open to the public at around the morning
here's the statement from SM Supermalls posted on Twitter
"At around 10 this morning, a fire broke out in the motor room of the MOA Eye, SM by the Bay. The fire department responded quickly...and was able to put it out immediately. No one was hurt in the said incident as the ride was not yet open then. "
The MOA Eye attracted lots of visitors who are shoppers, family, tourist, OFW and balikbayan since it was opened last 2012. The ferris wheel usually operates at around the afternoon til late evening. Price per person for a 15 minute ride is PHP 150
