Star
Wars fans will go crazy when they see the life size scale of this X-Wing
starfighter, lifted from the upcoming movie “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.
We’re so lucky that we have this now parked at the atrium level of SM Mall of
Asia, I’m glad they launched it here in Manila and we are no longer required to
travel to Singapore to visit another life size scale X-Wing starfighter that
docks inside the Changi Airport.
This display and attraction to promote
the Star Wars movie is in line with the strategic partnership with SM Supermalls
and Disney, why Disney?, because Star Wars was acquired by Disney few years ago
and all properties from the Lucasfilm universe is now under Disney, same goes to
the Marvel Universe, that was acquire too before Star Wars.
SM Mall of
Asia opened this to the public for FREE, and to give everyone a one of a kind
Star Wars experience, you can visit the X-Wing set up and get a FREE photo op,
ride with it and explore the awesome details of the X-Wing starfighter. The
exhibit will run from December 7, 2015 up to January 3, 2016
Here are the

Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie will have its PH release this
December 17, 2015
and it will take a break starting December 25, 2015 for
the observation of Metro Manila Film Festival, but the IMAX movie version will
still run normally. The regular cinema screening will be back on January 8, 2016
in all Philippine theaters.
The
entire thing is so big, its like a real jet fighter plane and it has a real
resemblance of the one they used in the movies. Of course the X-Wing are not
really “real”, it only appear on the Star Wars movies and games, but this mock
up set up makes it too “real” for us Star Wars fans.
Here’s
another angle… I think you should come here and drop by with a friend, so that
you can take turns in taking photos with the X-Wing starfighter.
My son
Ashton is so excited to visit the mall this Christmas, and we will be back here
not just for shopping, but also to appreciate the Star Wars exhibit and also
feel its Force.
Here’s
the scale with a pilot inside
btw, that’s me!
I placed my GoPro at the
elevated viewing deck and set it to timelapse photography
Here’s a closer look of the X-Wing starfighter pilot
cockpit details. There are SFX with it, you can play around like a member of the
Resistance fighting the Tie Fighter or be part of the Rebel Alliance zooming in
the trenches of Death Star.
Some
tidbit of information about the Resistance X-Wing starfighter. Don’t worry there
are no spoilers in the info sheet.
If
you really want to pilot the X-Wing, then try playing the PS4 game Star Wars
Battlefront, it’s a new first person shooter game, here at the demo area, I
pilot an X-Wing starfighter. Its not easy to control it but I get a nice feel as
a starfighter pilot.
You can also set the game to play as a Resistance
soldier or a First Order Stormtrooper.
The Hot Toys collectible figures were on display too and
this gave a nice close up look of the main villain of the movie – Kylo Ren. The
new member of the Sith, or maybe another Darth Vader, looks so dark and evil. We
don’t have yet clues about this villain, but we need to wait for the movie
release to figure out if he is really a good guy or a nice guy.
Movie merchandises that can be bought c/o of SM Cinemas,
the pop corn cointainer are branded with Star Wars logo and check out the nice
tumblers with character figures on top. These are a Star Wars collectible and it
is only available in the Philippines and can be bought in SM Cinema pop corn
stores.
Notebooks, shirts and bags for kids are also available.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: Rebels characters on shirts and
bags.
I
caught a short glimpse of a booth (Im not sure if it’s a telco booth) they
promote the Star Wars: Rebel Android game app. My son Ashton is playing this
game and he already made it to the mid level….which is so difficult to
accomplish.
At
the Cyberzone area of SM Mall of Asia, located at the 2nd floor and it stand
right above the SM Hypermarket. You’ll spot another Star Wars: The Force Awakens
exhibit and attractions.
Here you can choose which side are you on…..
blue is the Jedi, and then red is the Sith (the bad guys)
Me
and Ferds Bondoy did a fun photo op and also role play as a Jedi vs.
Sith…
”ohh…you cut my hand!”
The
light saber are expensive…so handle it with care.
A
nice set up group of Stormtrooper is in charge and attack position.
The set
up is cool also for photo ops. So create your Star Wars diorama here.
Here’s
my selfie with the Stormtrooper
we also call it the Donald Duck
Stormtrooper.because the face of the helmet resembles the beak of Donald
Duck….why? because Star Wars is now owned by Disney.
So
that’s all folks for the Star Wars mania in SM Mall of Asia.
Don’t forget to
visit them this month and be part of the Galactic Celebration here in the
Philippines.
Also don’t forget to watch the movie this December
17!!!
