Powerman
Duathlon Pilipinas will be on its 2nd year to search for the best of the best
athlete runner and biker. This duathlon race is different from other races in
the Philippines, I thought that its an easy or just a piece of cake to
professional runners, but they told me that this is a tough race because it will
require them to run-bike-run through out the race.
Powerman Duathlon
Pilipinas aims to invite all runners to bike and bikers to run, its not an
exclusive race that is limited to running or biking, because it’s a duathlon and
they are required to do both. Powerman Duathlon is an international race event
that originated in Switzerland, This 2016, the 2nd year of Powerman Duathlon
Pilipinas is accredited as the Philippine affiliate of the International
Powerman Association (IPA) and set to organize and hold the duathlon series
this coming November and December.
I
learned from Raymund Magdaluyo, chairman of Powerman Duathlon Pilipinas, that
they are looking for pinoy qualified athletes to be trained and sponsored and to
compete in the world series of Powerman in Switzerland, if these athletes
performed better for the Powerman Duathlon Pilipinas, they are a good candidate
to represent our country to compete for other race series.
Raymund shared
that they are looking for athletes that can run for 2 hours covering the 10km
run, 60km bike, 10km run. OR can run a 10km race in just 30 min.
I know
it’s a challenge but I think they are trying to beat a record and they are in
search of a power man individual that can help win our country in a duathlon
race series.
On
November 20, the Powerman Duathlon Pilipinas Asian Invitational consisting of a
Powerman Short (5km run-30 km -5km run) will be held at SM Mall of Asia by the
Bay.
On December 3 and 4, the Powerman Duathlon Pilipinas World Series
will be held at the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga. Aside from featuring a
Powerman Short, events will also include the Powerman Classic (10 km run-60 km
bike-10 km run), Powerkids (for kids ages 6-16) and Powerteens leg. The Poweman
Duathlon series will be an important sporting event with around 3000
participants
Powerman
Duathlon aka the Run-Bike-Run race wants to promote the sport as an active
lifestyle, the race is also open for kids who can run and also bike, and also
for any individual that can run and also ride a bike, there are no limitation if
you own a bike or want to borrow one.
One of the agenda is to promote
that their duathlon is open for all. Kids can join the Powerman short kids and
teens category and while for professional runners and bikers, they can join the
Powerman classic.
Power Training with Anytime FitnessA primary purpose is
to encourage more people of all ages and from all walks of life to live a
healthier, more active lifestyle, and perhaps consider taking on the challenge
of becoming a Powerman. The goal is to invite people to try alternative sports
activities so that runners can also start biking, and bikers can likewise enjoy
running.
But to help even the seasoned duathlon participants prepare
for their events, Anytime Fitness has devised a Power Training program that will
help boost stamina and improve athletic ability at the races.
Apart from the
requisite physical training, the program will include Power Camps and Power
Clinics. These are venues where guest coaches and other mentors will share their
expertise to help participants improve techniques, or overcome other physical
and mental barriers that may impede optimum performance.
Gael Le Bellec,
Powerman Duathlon Pilipinas Ambassador and Powerman World Champion for 2014
&2015 will be one of the guest coaches.
Powerman Gives Bikes
to the Batang Tri Grassroots ProgramPart of the proceeds of
Powerman will go towards buying bicycles and other gear for the Batang Tri
Grassroots program. This is a program that supports young individuals who do not
have the financial means to enter the world of multi-sports. Starting out as an
initiative of CEO and president of F&F International Events Group, Inc. and
restaurateur Raymund Magdaluyo, Batang Tri is currently headed by Coach Jojo
Macalintal, Coach Ivan Leopando and Coach Melvin Fausto, and is supported by
Seafood Island.
