Aftermath of typhoon santi

Its eleven am in the morning, this is what left after powerful strong winds hit us last night. Its so hard to sleep, the winds is so strong slamming the house wall and window and makes this scary howling sound. I woke up at around 5am and went around the house to check damages and see our pets cats, dogs, birds and fish, and glad they are ok. The only damage left are the plant and trees.

I slept again at 6am and woke up at eleven, then its sunny already and the typhoon is already out of the country. We have no elec here and im using my phone to post a mobile blog.

Last night the sky turned blue for 4 sec it was lovely to see it, but im not sure if that is a lightning or an elec burst from damage powerlines, coz there is no sound and i know elec burst are colored purple.

Ok.im going now to manila and will be in quezon province tom.

500 words of Summer

This is my 500 words review for the movie 500 days of Summer. I really want to blog this and get over of the movie. It affected me so much and its hard to bring back all those memories after seeing some scenes and the story that is related on what happened to me. The movie is cute, romantic, lovely, comedy and it will take you to the past and future. It is just weird that I’m a guy and loves this movie, not just the movie, because it’s Zooey Deschanel is in it. The magical story is not about the love story of two individuals but the story revolves on how to fall in love. It is such a sapol sa mukha ko when I discovered their status as a couple or just friends. The emotional visualization on each characters showed in the 1st part of the movie, which will give you hints on what happens next and a big revelation that will come on the end.

The makers of this film, the actors, the guy who puts the music makes the whole movie 500 days of Summer really special. It’s funny that I missed the premiere night of this movie and thanks to 20th Century Fox for inviting me, but that doesn’t stop me for watching it in the 1st day and on its 1st screening. Everyone is waiting for this and I thought that it’s a funny and romantic movie, but it wasn’t that I expected, the real lesson here is that to learn more about our self and ask if we are sure on who will be our partner forever. Zooey and Joseph did pull this off and their characters are perfect for the film, I didn’t expected that the end of the movie is the most important part and I know everyone will laugh and still see a good happy ending. I love the soundtrack they put to the movie, I now dig music of The Smiths, Regina Spektor, Vagabonds, and love the song Sweet Disposition and the lovely voice of Zoeey in her band She and Him.

500 days of Summer is one of the movie that is being talked about in the internet and social media networks. The first time I saw it’s trailer is from a video blog post in Multiply, and then I saw some of it in Facebook and then Plurk. Many waited to see this film and I’m glad it reaches the island and still people watched it even that the film is already circulating in our torrents. I totally recommend that you should see this film, if you love falling inlove, or go back to the past and see what’s left and what’s wrong, and maybe you have a crush on Zooey or Joseph, or maybe you just love to see a masterpiece film that can fit to the general audience. 500 days of Summer is a movie that everyone needs to be inlove or to live in hate or wanted to have hopes in their life to be in love again.

IBM Regional General Manager Meets President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo

IMG_9077
Press Release - IBM reaffirmed today its commitment and investment towards the growth of the Philippines during talks today with Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

IBM ASEAN General Manager, Cordelia Chung, Vice President for Governmental Programs, Growth Market Unit, Stephen Braim, Human Resource (HR) Delivery Executive, IBM Asia Pacific, Renato Jiao and Philippines Country General Manager, James Velasquez, met with the President at the Malacanang Palace and spoke of plans to extend existing investment which currently includes several global delivery centers.

IBM reiterated its dedication to develop local education and the advancement of business and technology skills as a responsible corporate citizen by helping the Philippines advance its national innovation agenda.

As a testament of this continuous commitment, IBM will officially launch the first IBM Innovation Center (IIC) in the Philippines in December 2009 in conjunction with the second anniversary of Filipinnovation – innovation by the Filipino for the Philippines and the global community. This investment will help advance the country’s progress in meeting its National Innovation Strategy. IBM took the opportunity to formally invite President Arroyo to officiate at the inauguration ceremony of the center.

During the meeting, the proposed ‘Earn as You Learn’ project with the Board of Investment (BOI) was discussed and positively evaluated. The project is aimed at building a ‘Smarter Philippines’ by advancing technology skills and competitiveness in a highly globalized business environment. The project combines integrated teaching with income-generating work experience for students, enabling them to graduate with a higher appreciation of the work culture of an IT professional.

In the last five years, the company has grown its workforce here from about 300 to over 7000 today providing services to both the domestic and export markets.

Paano ko sasabihin to Erich Gonzales

PA267039
Got a time to meet Erich Gonzales at the press con of Cinema One Originals yesterday. On its 15th anniversary, they will be showcasing another masterpiece of digital films shot by fresh and young directors that will be  shown at Gateway Mall Cineplex in Araneta Cubao on November 13 to 17, with an awards night on November 15 at the Dolphy Theater in ABS CBN. Over of 100 entries, 5 films make it to the cut and they are Maximus and Minimus, Paano ko sasabihin, Wanted: Border, Bala Bala, and Si Baning Si Maymay at and Asong Si Bobo.

Erich is one of the cast of Paano ko sasabihin, teaming up with tv actor Enchong Dee. The story is about two individuals met inside the MRT and story revolves about their life and the use of sign language, yup they perform it as they live in a lie that both of them are not deaf and mute, weird story but the concept is lovely. Other films will be featured here on my next blog post.

the amazing Divisoria this week

CIMG7754
This is the earliest day for me to visit 168 mall in Divisoria, I used to go there every year only in the month of December, just to shop for gifts and buy some weird and cool stuff for me. I know Divisoria is changing and I saw this big construction nearby that they are planning to make an Eastwood City-like space and mall infront of Meisic Mall. I just love to see the old Divisoria, but as time goes by we see a lot of rebuilding, but that's okay, we still see the crowdy place and swarms of merchandise in all places of the all mighty Divisoria.
Everything you need is in here. ( read more below)

CIMG7757
The toy store inside 168 mall is still in there, I always see this store every year selling loose figures and anime figures that is also mint in box. I just saw around 3 anime toy store at the ground floor and 2 more at the 2nd floor. I just a big figure of Star Wars battle droid, only one left all in mint in box, priced at P100.

CIMG7778
the middle area of 168 mall. All filled with shoppers and mall goers.

CIMG7755
ground floor of 168 mall. You won't see that empty space this December

CIMG7759
need a job? then apply here hahahaha

CIMG7763
we ate our snacks here at the top floor, but I prefer to eat on the other side of 168 were there are wide selections of Chinese food from diff resto and fast food. This area we ate has a Timezone arcade section and a small Wendys stall.

CIMG7765
Divisoria is also known for buying hot items and rare toys, and don't forget about knock off toys(fake). Above is a fake Lego toys. I bought one box for P80 that contains a soldier and a jeep with bazooka. Its funny that they copied the exact mold of our original LEGO toy and brand it as LIGO.

CIMG7784
the ultimate crowd outside the mall, this is the real Divisoria. This is the view of the street going to Divisoria mall. You wont even see a little space here on a December and it will be more crowded than ever.

CIMG7785
I got curious about these rubbery animals. They are priced at P200 and its a play thing for kids, they can ride on it, hug it and it also float in water. There's a donkey, cow, pig, cat and even a Winnie the pooh.

PA246635
clothes section at the 2nd floor of 168 mall. not yet crowded but all stores are occupied by customers checking out on some clothes and accessories.

PA246640
I was planning to buy a fake Nike shoes here, but I began to laugh when I saw the under sole of the fake Nike has a label Dolce and Gabana. ahhhaha. I said no no no no..  I wont buy it.

PA246650
see those head? its a ceramic sculpted heads of famous celebrities and comic characters. Priced at P700 they are used as a toilet tissue holder. There are more weird and mind boggling items in Divisoria. There is also a drinking bottle with a photo of Obama with a Lincoln hat, then a Gloria Arroyo photo pasted on a metallic Zippo like lighter. Posters of Boys over flowers, pirated dvds and non stop playback of Nobody songs or video of Wonder girls.

The mighty Divisoria still reigns as the center of all things we buy. fake or original. the place is still a must visit.

Food monsters trip to Binondo

PA246680
Food monsters Az and Lace

We just celebrated our monthsary last October 25 and got the crazy idea to go to Divisoria on a Sunday to have some little market watch and shopping, and also raid some fast food in Binondo. Lace want to go to Divisoria to check out some clothes and me to see what's new and look for promising toy stores this coming xmas season. Travel time at late afternoon in a Sunday is smooth, we didn't expected any traffic but I let Lace a taste of walkathon going to 168 from Binondo church by foot. I miss hanging out in the middle of Manila, and happy to share to her my short knowledge going inside Divisoria by foot. (read more below)

PA246678
Binondo Church
After going around inside Divisoria for 5 hours, we ended up here in Binondo Church to get a jeep ride to Lawton and head to Arlegui st. in Quiapo for a one last tour in Manila.

PA246655
My mugshot with the menu of Waiying Fast food. Me and my family are customers since the 90's. And I'm proud that I found it again by just walking the long stretch of Masangkay st. and turning left to Soler st. going to Benavidez St. were Waiying Fast food can be found. Thanks to my sis for txting me the address ahhahaa. There's also a funny moment were we followed a Waiying deliver boy riding in a bicycle going to Benavidez St. and because that I am not so sure on walking around Masangkay st. but I just got lucky and a delivery boy brought us to their resto.

PA246670
Lace and her food babies on the table. So sad that they don't have Pata tim that night. We paid a total of P450 for our meal that night. Price is low and very affordable. I'm still bugged by that stainless kawali as our plate for the yangchow fried rice, because I remember that they don't have that kinda of style.

PA246659
She's a milk tea addict.

PA246673
Hakaw, I learned eating hakaw from another mall restaurant, and I love this and not that ordinary like the siomai we know. It has a large shrimp inside, and its yummy.

PA246669
My tradition in eating in a Chinese resto is adding a century egg. Just like my dad who used to buy always in every resto, I now find the joy of eating this as my side dish.

PA246666
Lace ordered this Fried lumpia, I ate one piece and taste like a fried siomai with veggies. I' m not sure of the ingredients, I got so busy in munching that day.

PA246664
my messy yangchow fried rice, yeah! sometimes I just don't care what the photos look like, because I'm so hungry and want to eat it right away and forget about photo blogging the food.

PA246662
all time favorite, the chicken feet never fails us, they are always available in Waiying. Suck all the chicken feet meet and throw all those small bones of the chicken.

PA246661
I'm thinking if those frozen dumplings are ready to eat.

CIMG7788
infront of Eng Bee Tin store in Binondo. I just bought some hopia and pastillas. grabe na-addict ako sa pastillas nila sobra sarap.

It was a tiring day after walking around Divisoria, but its fun and I love to do it over and over again every Sunday. I just saw an old friend (Bernard Tubigan) at Waiying, and he said that they are there every Sunday with his wife eating in Waiying. Im amazed and impressed on their Sunday tradition, then after that moment I got an idea to do something every Sunday with Lace.. hmmm.. sleep? hhahaha. anyways. More adventures on the next stop November 25th.
see you in a month !
