January 28, 2014 is the official launch and opening of the new wing of SM Megamall, also dubbed as the Mega bldg D that sit next to Mega bldg B of SM Megamall. it’s a 86,000 square meter hedge shaped atrium that houses new global fashion stores, restaurants and IMAX Theater, Bowling center and also bringing back the 1st ever ice skating rink in SM Megamall, now with a Olympic size set up.
I’ve seen this new wing of SM Megamall last December 2013 and the size is huge and it covers up to the 5th floor, but I’m not sure if there’s a basement area with stores too. And because of the new expansion of SM Megamall, they are now awarded as the BIGGEST shopping mall in the Philippines in terms of floor area, now the 2nd biggest mall is the SM North EDSA and third is SM Mall of Asia.

According to SM Megamall, there will be top global brands that will open for the 1st time here in the Philippines and they will open first here at the Mega Fashion Hall of SM Megamall.

Theresa Herrera hosted the launch event / also I spotted a drone with camera covering the ribbon cutting, it flew above us and it was controlled by a tech guy at the 2nd floor. Its so noisy when it hovers around the area.

After the speech of Steve Tan, they showed to us the global fashion brands that the mall carries, and each of them presented a fashion show to give us a clue what the specialty of each global brands can offer.

After the chit chat..I went around to take photos of the entire Mega Fashion Hall and also its store. I was planning to go home early that day but then I learned that SM Bowling, Ice Skating Rink and IMAX Theater will open the same day. I remembered that I got a ticket for the IMAX Theater screening of Jack Ryan, thanks to Cara for the tix!
