AirAsia is back again in hosting a one of a kind travel photography contest. Its their 2nd year to host the AirAsia Travel Photographer contest, many pinoy travelers, photographers and bloggers are excited to join this contest, because one of the best perk here as a finalist is that you will travel with AirAsia around South East Asia to document your travel and submit your best of the best travel photos for the contest.
The promotion for the contest ran for a month, the entry is easy, all you have to do is visit the contest website, register an account and then submit your best travel photos with theme of -- portrait, landscape and food. Me and the EATgetaway blogger team joined the contest and we just tried our luck and see which of the three of us will make it to the top 20 participant for the elimination round.
But after 2 weeks of the last day ofsubmission. AirAsia invited us for a press con to reveal the 6 finalist. The 6 finalist are the one entitled to travel with AirAria in Shanghai, China to conduct a series of travel shoot and also enjoy the luxury of spending zero fares and hotel accommodation.
Too bad..Me, Enzo and Ted didn’t even make it to the top 20….hahaha. talo pero ok lang.
There’s still next year and I think we should focus to submit a much better entry.
Did you know that there’s a total of 500++ submissions in span of one month. Grabe ang dami.
The top 20 elimination round took place on the same day of the top 6 press con. They challenged the top 20 participants to roam around BGC and submit their best captured photo.
And after some hours of judging and deliberation. The judges composed of Nachi Ugarte, creative director of GRID magazine; Jacob Maentz, documentary photographer; Wawi Navarrosa, artist/photographer, founder of Thousandfold; and Rudy Khaw, AirAsia Group’s head of branding – took a lot of their time to select who are the rightful people to be part of the top 6.
So here are the top 6 finalist.
Neil Michael Cardano, a Hotel Front Desk Officer from Puerto Princesa, Palawan
Mithilaya Miclat, a Nutritionist-Dietician and Social Entrepreneur from Davao City
Eliseo Zuniga, a Lawyer from Taguig City
Kimberly Pauig, a Writer from Pasig City
Daniel Magbanua, a Fashion Photography Student from Quezon City
Dave Poblete, a BPO Employee from Makati City.

The top 6 finalist just traveled today in Shanghai, China. In the next few days, their entries will be posted at the official contest website -- www.airasiatp.com
Their adventure will be documented on video via a web series to be posted on AirAsia Philippines Facebook – www.facebook.com/AirAsiaPhilippines and on Twitter -- @AirAsiaPH . Also do check out the hashtags -- #AirAsiaTP2016 in all social media platforms for updates and stories of this contest.
Everyone are invited to check out the website to vote for their favorite travel photographer. The Grand Winner will be declared as ‘AirAsia Travel Photographer of the Year” and will receive 200,000 AirAsia BIG Points, surprise vacation package and more prizes from partner brands including GRID magazine and Flight 001.
Travel and photo enthusiasts also have the chance to win 50,000 AirAsia BIG Points and other exciting prizes by voting in the AirAsia Travel Photographer 2016 – People’s Choice Award. All they have to do is visit www.airasiatp.com, proceed to the voting page and log-in using their Facebook account. Then they can select their favourite contender and share the activity on their Facebook timeline.
Contest will run from August 15 to September 8.

Since we didn’t won..here’s a way that I hijack the hashtag and showed them my travel photos

That’s a photo of Bumbungan Eco Park in Cavinti, Laguna. People in social media thought that I won..I told them its just a part of the hashtag thing for the press con.
We didn’t saw the reveal that night, because our coverage time is limited, we went straight to SM Aura to attend the Suicide Squad IMAX premiere.
