National Cheerleading Competition (NCC) "Fearless" team up with ESPN5 for Season 14

If you are a fan of the cheerleading competition of the UAAP and NCAA, then Im sure you will love the mother of all competition for cheerleading, the National Cheerleading Championship or NCC. In this competition, there will be up to around 300 teams that will compete for the national level and this is like a search for the best of the best in the Philippines, and be the one team for Team Pilipinas that will compete in the World Championships to be held in Orlando, Florida in 2019

WE ARE FEARLESS
We Are Fearless is the main title of the upcoming National Cheerleading Championship for Season 14. We learned from NCC Founder Carlo Valdes that cheerleading is one of the most dangerous sport, because cheerleaders’ lives and health is at risk in doing those stunts such as acrobats and aerial exhibition during their dance routine, and he said that many got injured during practice just to perfect the main routine, that’s why they want to inform everyone that to be a cheerleader, the first thing they have to do is to be fearless.

Qualifying tournaments
The qualifying tournament will start this October 6 in Robinson's Mall, Las Pinas, this is for the South Luzon Qualifiers and then the next will be announced via NCC website www.nccphilippines.com.ph .
NCC target the 300 teams to battle head to head with one another in these categories -- cheer, dance and drumline competition. The grand finals is set on March 2019 and to be held in Mall of Asia Arena

A different kind of cheerleading
For the qualifying rounds, the contest is much more different than the popular cheerleading contest that airs on TV. For the NCC qualifiers, the teams will be doing cheer dance with plain uniforms only and no fancy move or effects or costume or maybe gimmick.

Feel like an athlete.
NCC promises that cheerleaders will feel being an athlete for this upcoming NCC, because they will be using the MOA Arena’s facility that will make the qualifying teams in its comfy position, the participating teams will be using the MOA Arena’s locker room, shower and other amenities, and all of this will be provided for the team because cheerleaders are athletes too!

Team Pilipinas delegates
Last April, the Team Pilipinas delegation was composed of athletes selected from the different high schools and universities that compete at the Nationals. Assumption College and Poveda Juniors competed for cheer hip-hop and the Junior Championships respectively, while the All-Girl and Co-Ed Elite Teams were drawn from students from NU, Ateneo, UST, De La Salle, FEU, Holy Spirit, Miriam, St Paul Pasig, and other schools.

ESPN 5 full support
ESPN5 will be present throughout this journey, covering the regional qualifiers through Sportscenter Philippines, and The Nationals live on free TV.

‘Fearless’ also defines ESPN5’s mission of elevating Philippine sports to international heights. It was only natural for us to continue our partnership with the NCC as they pursue their vision of advancing cheerleading as a sport in the country."

“ESPN5 has stayed true to its mission of bringing great sports content to Filipinos. With their world-class content delivery platforms, we are elated to have them on board for the whole season of the NCC, and together with the journey of Team Pilipinas”, Valdes added.
