Today is the day, that the Lord has made! hooraay! I just finished my powerpoint presentation and its already 6:30am and a few hours away it will be my keynote speech at the Social Networking and eBusiness Conference 2009. I'm having my great spirit today after being lost last night and unbalanced. And as Master Obi Wan Kenobi said " Az, the force is strong in you."
and for a little warm up, here's my answer to bikoyski's Q and A tips for my talk.
2. How these entered the Philippine scene
The users brought the social networking sites here in the Philippines, and because that you can connect to it by the use of the internet, the access and use of the sites is easy to capture any user who is online. And because of the big traffic and number of users in our country, each of the social sites are now in the move to concentrate in our country to power up more of the service and also bring more users.
3. Why are people attracted to these social networking sites...
Many users just go online and find something that it can change their lives, and thats having a partner, a friend or someone that you can tell those stories and they become a good listener. Some users just go to these sites for some entertainment and spend their time surfing and talking to people. They discover many things about their self and the personality changes or enhances them away from being a shy type person. In my experience, I got this fear of talking to people that I don't know and because of social networking sites, I slowly defeated that fear and the sites trained me not to be afraid of talking to people. I remember my mom told me when I was a youngling, everytime that there's a visitor at home I always ran under the table and hide myself there til the visitor goes away. I'm very shy to new people, but because of these sites, I started to shooo away my fear in meeting new people.
4. What are the advantages and disadvantages.
The advantages of social networking sites is that you can meet lots of new people, and when have built your network, you'll become famous and there are many opportunities are coming in for you. You can start your career from that site and get a job from your massive connection to social site users. The disadvantages is that many people are abusing the use of the social sites, like many are posing as a different person and use that other identity to fool people online. Users should be aware of the disadvantages and must be responsible in putting all those information about yourself.
5. What is your experience as a blogger/twitter/plurker etc?
as a blogger, it changes my whole self from a happy go lucky person, into a more responsible, productive and creative individual. I began to contribute and have this big concern in changing the whole nation/country.
6. Would could be the future? Are these threatened by the recent crisis?
The future of social networking sites will evolve more. Users can generate money from it and save them from that crisis. Users who want to have business can serve this as a stepping stone and a learning ground to become a professional business person.
7. How about social networking sites in the future what could they be like...
All I can say is that, the access of the sites can be anywhere and anytime.
whew..that was a quick warm up..
so good luck to me today at the conference..

Sorry for not posting lately, I've been busy for the past days and I'm still in a rush mode of things in preparing for an upcoming personal event and also my keynote talk for the Social Networking and eBusiness Conference, and my talk will be tomorrow at 9am at Hotel Intercon, I'm very nervous already because I'll be delivering this keynote address as a power user of Social Networking Sites and thanks to all people who nominated me as a keynote speaker and also thanks to my network friends for voting me.
Lace went to Australia last Tuesday, and it was a hard thing for me to be alone for 2 months, now must focus on working lots of project for the month of May and June. She now blogs her adventure at Suzaku Lace and Styleandrelax.net. I spent my time with her before she leave and went busy in stuffing some items in her traveling bag.
I missed one event yesterday and I'm very disappointed to myself for waking up late in the morning and didn't realized that Jollibee will be launching this 3 new meals. I know its an event called Jolly fair, and I've been to a Jolly fair and wow we took home lots of Jollibee items from that bazaar. Will post some details here soon about that 3 new meals of Jollibee. I really need to write down all events on paper and have a calendar with me to look at it everyday in order to track all events that I got invited too.
Last night I went to the launching of MTV Asia and our Department of Tourism, and its about this project that they have in promoting tourism in the Philippines. It was a great night and surprised that DOT Secretary Ace Durano greeted me after I arrive late at the M Cafe, I got embarrased because many look back at the door when someone is talking infront about Awesome Philippines. If wanna know more about the project, visit www.awesomephilippines.com
I'm also working on this comics script for a comic book project for May 2009, and I'm hoping that I finish it before the week ends, because the comics production will begin on May 1, 2009 and I don't want to give pressure to my artist partner, Jake Sumbing in the drawing board. I'm very excited for this project and it will be big debut as a comic book writer and its a dream come true that I am now in the real field of the comics industry in the Philippines, that is not a comics convention or events organizer, but one of the guys who makes pinoy comics. Will post more details soon after I finishes some gigs this Friday. And to note it, its really hard to write stories for comic books hahahahahaha, now I can feel how pressure it is to be in the field of creating comics.
I'm also having this series of events for May 2009, its a series of events for techies, bloggers, cosplayers, gamers and music lovers. I'm still gearing up for the big events coming up and I know everyone is excited to see a teaser of events listed in my events calendar here in my blog. Been receiving lots of calls, emails and sms messages asking me to spill some details about the events labeled under different kind of titles. But I told them that they should wait for it and will give info soon. Also I'm putting up a gig for cosplayers and its "the greatest summer job for a cosplayer", yeah I'm opening up a gig offer to all cosplayers to earn money and make cosplaying as a career. Will post more details soon.
And I'll be out later tonight to attend 2 events, one is a laptop launching and the other one is a restaurant-foodie event with 5 bloggers. I'm excited and its the only thing that I can visualize and freshen up myself, because I love to conceptualize and also rehearse my talk for my keynote whenever I'm outside, I'm still a wanderer and love to be outside and talk to myself during my travel from Cavite to Manila. See you all later my blogger friends.
Its sad to say that I won't be joining the awesome people of Why Not Forum 6.0, I'm very excited for that talk and it seems that the date of the event is conflicting with my visit in Sampaloc, Quezon province for the town fiesta and family gathering, and also an unexpected incident happened as my Lola Nena died last Tuesday in the province, so I will be there with my sister in the province with the family and relatives. I already sent my message to the people of Why Not Forum about my no show for their event, and also told Anton Diaz that I wont be able to join them, he's excited too about the event, and he blogged about it and informed everyone that I will be there to talk about pop culture, but it seems that its impossible for me to divide myself and must prioritize my family event. But I told Anton that I still be participating, and I will upload a video of me this Friday night here in my blog as an online participating for the Why not Forum event, and I'm not sure if they will use it just for the people who will attend to know more about the pop culture scene in the Philippines.
here's an announcement from Mark Diaz of Why Not Forum.
We've got great news ...So there you go guys. I'll log off now and finish this powerpoint thing for my keynote tomorrow. Good luck to me and I'll see you all later.
Art & historical artifact collector, 8-time Palanca Awardee for Literature, multi-awarded & highly sought-after writer and director for theatre, TV, print and corporate events as well as art, culture and history resource FLOY QUINTOS will now be speaking also at the Why Not Forum 6.0 this Saturday at Alchemy with the rest of the other geniuses!
On a slightly sad note, Azrael Coladilla - Pop Culture Blogger - won't be able to join us anymore. But not to worry as we've still got a power lineup that will definitely make this event absolutely electrifying.
See you all on Saturday @ Club Alchemy. Registration starts at 130pm. Bring on the Tribes ... !

We are complete last meeting and its nice to see everyone and looks like that we are ready to Volt in and pilot that big giant robot. For me the pre-production is very slow, and it affected most of our tasks during that holy week and holiday. But I'm hearing good news already that some sponsors for the event are now showing their interest to join and be part of Toy Con 2009.
Today, I'll be having a big meeting and will do a presentation about the event to some sponsors who will be joining as co-presentor for the event. I'm very excited also to the role of ABS CBN, as the giant tv network will be our TV partner for Toy Con 2009, and we are still shifting our tasks and make the event more bigger and much for fun that the previous years.
The venue just extended and there is now a big place for film showings, panel talks, auctions and exhibits. The conference center rooms will be big addition for the event, and it will expand the attactions and also the eye candy exhibits by our Toy Con communities. I haven't started fixing the website, but I got my time frame already and will finish all of it after my big talks in an upcoming event this Thursday. I will be out of town on the weekend and go back with fresh ideas and start kicking the site and power it more for anothe round of Toy Con.
The Toy Con road show is still on works, but the date will be on May 8, 2009 at the Megatrade Hall in SM Megamall, just consider this post as a teaser for that big event for animation, toys and comics. Don't worry I will create another blog post about that event.
My keynote speech will be this April 24th, and I will be the first speaker for that day starting at 9:00AM, I'm a little bit nervous because I'm delivering my first ever keynote to a very different crowd, so I researched and also asked advice from my fellow online friends on how/what should I deliver a keynote to this event.
I will try to answer some of the topics that Bikoyski suggested and this will serve as my warm up before doing my real keynote and also that powerpoint presentation.
1. History of networking sites
I don't know where to start if I'm going to narrate the whole story of the history of social networking sites, my advice will be go google it and read it in wikipedia. But I might be able to narrate my own story on how I got into these social networking sites.
Meetup.com - I got invited by a user who is working in some animation studios. The meetup.com is a site that you can organize meet up and form your own online clubs and cliques. The forum of the site is very useful in tackling major discussions. Professionals and online clubs engage in to connect with other for a possible collaboration. I left the site after they disable other features and asked for some membership fee.
LinkedIN.com - I got invited by another user to join. Its a social networking sites for professionals and it is good to use it to connect with other business professionals who are connected to other users. The networking for business started here online at Linkedin. But I haven't used it properly and I left the site after not enjoying much of its activity online. Building your profile here is a must, and if you really like to be connected and meet other professionals, a powerful profile can attract them to add you and also work with you.
Friendster.com - My cousin who is in the US invited us to join in this networking site. I didn't know that I will enjoy its features and makes it as my first ever social networking sites that I got sticked for some couple of years and use it for the first time in marketing and promoting stuff online. Been a member since May 2003,and I say that it change a lot from back then, I remember that we were the only pinoys who are in that site, and its hard to get friend-add ons since others are foreigners, but then Friendster became popular and mass membership came in and I got the advantage in using it for marketing and also study the target market's behavior. I was labeled as a walking Friendster last 2004, it was a funny tag name as they say that many people are connected to me and I'm anywhere. I still use Friendster, and since many are still in there who uses it for family connection. I sometimes use Friendster in looking up people's profile and reputation, because all people are in Friendster, and I got a 90% chance that I can research their profile there.
Orkut.com - I got into this site from an invite of a friend who is in Australia, but I left the site after experience a slow loading of their site. It is similar to Friendster, but the site has their own blog feature and photo album.
Myspace.com - I joined because I heard that everyone is in here, then I left after being attacked by spammers and also cyber bullied by racists. I left the site and never think of going back again.
DeviantART.com - I just discovered this and found out that all my artists friends are in here, so I decided to join last 2004 and saw many pinoy artists are in there. The site is a great place for art portfolio, critiques and reviews. You can also get comments from other members and add you as they will Deviant Watch your updates and artwork uploads. The site has journal, you can write there and update everyone and make it as your own blog. DeviantART expanded and it was popular to young artists. They use the site to connect to professionals for work and also get art commissions as they will be paid via paypal or direct bank transfer.
Multiply.com - I was looking for a good photo album hosting and I just saw multiply.com has this feature, it was easy to use and I enjoyed uploading all my media files from music, videos and photos. It became my busiest social networking site after I became a member of it since 2005. I finally found a new ground for studying the market and also use the site as an internet marketing tool. And I see it is 200% effective, as I proved it from my event Toy Con, who expanded after I use the internet. From my interview at Inquirer.net, "Coladilla attributed the increasing size of Toycon to the Internet where collectors find each other through newsgroups, specialty collection sites or through trading websites."Many started trading collectibles through their mobile phones but it was the Internet that really boosted the industry."" Multiply is my 2nd home online and its my busiest social networking site. Iit connects me to the people who I wanted to be updated in my blog and promote something that falls under my interest.
Facebook.com - my latest social networking site, I didn't failed to use as I know there will be a time that it will be used for internet marketing. But I felt that Facebook is built for that kind of use. Another busiest site for me, and I almost visit this everyday. The Facebook is popular in tagging your friends in some photos and notes. The events page is very useful for marketing and inviting people, and the online promotion never stops., because if your friend is attending an event, you'll find it out in your news feed that they joined, and because you are curious to find out more about that event, you will be tempted to click and read the details. Also the fanpage and groups page is another useful tool in Facebook, were you can build your own online group and community, and update them by sending a mass message and also give members a chance to interact and contribute content.
Twitter and Plurk - Micro blogging is the new blogging trend of the year, and it is now popular as it can be read via internet and mobile. Updates can be posted in 2 liners and it interacts with your friends who are connected to your network. The status updates are the main content for micro blogging. Twitter became more popular today, as the people in the USA are going crazy over it. But here in the Philippines, some users get over with it as Twitter is popular last 2008, but everyone is in Plurk now as it was very convenient to update each other, and the comments management of the users are better than Twitter.
I guess this is my own short story of how I got into social networking sites. I still have more sites to feature, but above is my main list that I usually hang out online. Tomorrow, will post another that will serve as my warm up for the event.

more about the event - http://socialnetworkphilip
Okay, I'm already going crazy to see this ad at the TK website, but sad to say that I can't attend and party with SpongeBob on the 25th. But if your kid is a big fan of creatures of Bikini Bottom, then this party will be best for you and for your kid this summer.
You'll go party and also watch a sneak preview of SpongeBob and the Big Wave at the event.
When a giant tidal wave hits Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob, Patrick and Squidward are suddenly swept away and find themselves stranded on a remote island. The pals travel to the heart of the island where they meet an enigmatic surf guru named Jack Kahuna Laguna (voiced by guest-star Johnny Depp) who tells them that the only way back to Bikini Bottom is to surf the legendary wave - The Big One.
Catch the big wave on this premiere episode at 10.00am, Sunday 26th April!
We were invited to the launching of the Jollitown season 2 last March 30 at the NBC tent, and I'm so excited because its a Jollibee event and every time I attend their events, I feel that I turn into a kid again. Jollibee is here for 30 years already and its more than just a fast food resto, but it is also a tv show for kids. Jollibee and his friends Hetty, Popo, Twirlie and Yum will be back again at the Jollitown season 2 that will premiere this April 19th in GMA 7 , 8:30am- 9:00am every Sunday.
“For us at Jollibee, Jollitown became an important vehicle that allowed us to reach Filipino households in a very personal way,” Jollibee VP for Marketing Gold F. Tantoco said. “Through Jollitown, we want to ignite and touch the consciousness of our kids so they will not only be entertained but taught how
to become better and responsible citizens at their early age.”
Ms. Tantoco shared that for its second season, Jollitown will focus on imparting to kids simple yet timeless values such as being courteous, showing respect for others, obedience, honesty and even caring for their pets -- all in a fun and creative way.
As in the first season, the Wishing Well returns with dazzling superpowers. The Jollifriends and their new barkada will also be able to explore places beyond Jollitown such as the Cloudland and the breathtaking Giant Land.
Aside from the kids mainstays who will be introduced, new and exciting characters like Wind and Moon will also keep children glued to every episode.
Read more below
At the launching event, we were treated some goodies and we got photo op with the Jollibee friends, I'm very happy to see them perform all together on stage, and the tv show is very kid friendly and very educational, kids today are very lucky that they can watch this kind of show on local tv. I was wishing for a Jollibee cartoon when I was a kid, but mascots in a wonder of adventures and fun is more okay to me. The 1st episode of Season 2 will give more story on what will be the upcoming role of each of the characters, looks like the Wishing Well is more magical than from Season 1. I won't spoil more, just wake your kids before 8:30am and tune in to GMA 7, believe me, this show is more Filipino and a lot more better than Barney.

You may watch the main trailer below, Coming to regular theaters and IMAX with some scenes in 3D on July 16th in the Philippines.
Warner Bros. Pictures has released the latest trailer for the next Harry Potter film, HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson and Jim Broadbent. Together with the latest trailer also comes the unveiling of the four latest banner artworks which features Harry and Professor Dumbledore, Hermione and Professor Slughorn, Ron and Ginny, and Draco and Professor Snape.
Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort's defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn’t counted on Romilda Vane's chocolates! And then there's Hermione, simpering with jealously but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.
HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE will be released nationwide across the Philippines on July 16th, by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
