Tumauini Church and the belfry that look like wedding cake - Bambanti Festival 2019 part 7
Thursday, February 07, 2019
On the 2nd day of our coverage for the Bambanti Festival, we went to Cabagan, Isabela to attend a town fiesta and to eat our lunch at the residence of the Vice Governor of Isabela. We first drop by here at the town of Tumauini to visit a one of a kind of church with a belfry that looks like a wedding cake or a white candle.
We were having a discussion days before with some travel bloggers who are with us and told that we should visit this church if ever we have a chance, then our chance is here when we travel from Cauayan City up to Cabagan City. My jaw dropped when I saw the beauty of San Matias Parish Church also known as Tumauini church. The church is made from bricks and it was founded since 1707. Another uniqueness of the church is that it has a very high ceiling and a very long spiral staircase going to the belfry of the church. I’ve tried the spiral staircase and it was small and I got dizzy going up and then down, I stopped for 5 seconds when reaching the mid level of the spiral staircase. If you are on a travel up north-east of Luzon, then visit this Tumauini Church, and be amazed and get hungry when you see the wedding cake-looking belfry.
