about the blog original content
(photo of me that enjoys PM Dawn live music, photo by Alex Dizon)

Greetings True Believers!

as you see that I'm sick today and trying to recover fast, because I have this meeting tomorrow and I need to be in good shape and never miss a chance of a lifetime to meet Manny Pacquiao. I'm already geared up and then received a text message that he's sick and our meeting was re-scheduled for Sunday, too bad that I'm not feeling well in the last 12 hours, but taking Biogesic really works and the drowsiness is almost gone, hoping for a full recover tomorrow morning.

Sorry that I haven't posted any cool material here in my blog, especially the original content I used to write and post here in my blog, My blog Azraels Merryland changed so much and never saw how it is very influential to my readers and to my co bloggers. Blogging about promos and brands are fun, and its an added content for our blog, but I'm having some hard time blogging with my own style and how to execute a good blog post. I just can't help in copy-pasting all those press release, but hey! I don't need to rewrite it, that's why there's press release material, for our reference and publication. Brands and events are coming so fast and I lost counting already and trying my best to accommodate everyone here in my blog.

After I recover, expect a major original content blog post, I guess its time to bring back the 2003 years here in my minus the kiss and tell stories ha. heheh

SM Cinema is inviting student film makers to join "Big Shot" project

Big Shot Logo

SM Cinema's search for the best independent film makers in the country, “Big Shot”, was launched last May 5, and is set to revolutionize the Philippine film industry. The launch was simultaneous with the special screening of Bakal Boys, an indie film about children metal divers, supported by Apogee Productions, San Beda College, and the Aquino Foundation.

The screening was graced by the presence of respectable personalities like Fr. Aloysius Maranan, San Beda College Rector; Apogee Production's Mr. Albert Almendralejo; and Mr. Rapa Lopa of the Aquino Foundation. During his speech, Mr. Lopa emphasized the role of the cinemas as innovative venues for social awareness.

As everyone appreciated the well-applauded execution of Bakal Boys, Mr. Allan Florendo, SM Cinema's Sales and Marketing Head, went on to encourage the guests to join “Big Shot” and be a part of Philippine movie history.

Big Shot is open to all aspiring student film makers from any reputable college or university. From June 15 to August 15, participants may submit their best works which can be a short film or a full-length movie.

SM Cinema will then choose the top three (3) movies, and will award P500,000 each to the top three film makers. These film makers, with the help of renowned mentors, will each produce a full-length movie about “modern day heroism”. SM Cinema will show these movies during its Indie Film Festival on January 2011, right after the Manila Film Festival.

Log on to for more details on how to join “Big Shot”.

TV: George Lucas and Dave Filoni interview and share their update about "Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Rise of the Bounty Hunters"

My laptop broke down and forgot to share this great news to everyone. Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Rise of the Bounty Hunters is now showing every Friday at 7:30pm in Cartoon Network. I just can't believe that the Clone Wars saga reached a long storyline in animation mode. Check the info below and also an interview with George Lucas.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Rise of the Bounty Hunters-- bigger, bolder and more intense than ever before
Fierce battles, expanded storylines, and ground-breaking animation raise the stakes higher than ever before in Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Rise of the Bounty Hunters premiering on Cartoon Network in May. With new episodes every Friday at 7:30 PM, the series features the continuing adventures of the Jedi as their lives grow more complex and secretive. Forbidden relationships are revealed and a new breed of villain enters to take advantage of the wartime turmoil. Season two introduces these lawless rogues into the fray along with a host of new characters, locations and creatures. Set against the spectacular backdrop of the Star Wars universe, The Clone Wars – Rise of the Bounty Hunters is bigger, bolder and more intense than ever before!

George Lucas, creator and executive producer of Star Wars the Clone Wars and Dave Filoni, the show’s supervising director share exciting highlights on the all-new season:

George Lucas
George Lucas

What do you see as the biggest differences between this season and the first season?

GEORGE LUCAS: The series is progressing a lot like the live-action movies. In the first season, we were able to keep things light; it was a conflict between good and evil, with clear-cut good guys and bad guys, much like the first movie. We were able to explore the world and introduce our characters, setting the tone. The second season furthers the story like The Empire Strikes Back did for the original trilogy. It’s more complicated, and we’re seeing that an ongoing war isn’t as simple as we’d been led to believe. The only difference is that the original movies led to the victory over the Empire, while our series will finish off at the beginning of Episode III, which is a low point for the Republic. Lace and the wheel chair

CIMG8395 (Small)
Here's a photo of Lace having her fist wheel chair experience here in Medical City, the doctor suggested that she needs to be in bed in order to complete the 37 weeks. She's on due in no time, and we can't have a 35 weeks in labor, she took 2 shots of steroids for the baby to power up the lungs, one shot was given after 12 hours. So we stayed in, the room is nice, but its so sad that food is not allowed inside the room and we need to eat it outside the room. Wifi signal is very bad too, I wasted Php1,799 pesos for a night stay. Sana nag Sogo Hotel na lang kami, may wifi pa at room service.

the day ended here in Starbucks Podium, serving wifi at lats and doing some of those deadlines
Smartbro internet stick is broken..weird nga e. But Globe works fine, but I dont have it with me.

MOVIES: Shrek Forever After laugh at your own risk (movie review by an Ogre blogger)
Shrek Forever After is the final chapter of the whole saga and story of Shrek, the former lonely ogre who is now an instant celebrity, a father, a friend, and still an ogre. The film celebrated its first debut on 3D cinema and made it on time in the era of 3D cinema and IMAX, I went to the movie premiere while ago in SM MOA IMAX Theater and my expectations were right that IMAX 3D never fails in any CGI animated movie. MOVIES: it's an Ogre Day at IMAX SM Mall of Asia for the movie premiere of Shrek Forever After

shrek collage
The movie premiere night of Shrek Forever After while ago in IMAX Theater in SM Mall of Asia is a special screening because I heard from the Selina of UIP and Wilson Teng of Solar Entertainment that Shrek 2nd movie was the first movie they launched partnership of Solar and UIP, so the premiere is kinda magical and it is their 126th film as partners, I also heard that this is the final chapter of Shrek and before closing the books and put it on the shelf, we are going to expect Puss in Boots movie in the future that will be voiced by Antonio Banderas.

There were booths for kids, food tasting and games to everyone. They gave away some Nestle Koko Krunch that comes out with a Shrek toys to kids and a special discount offer to parents who want to buy the cereal. After the screening, audience were welcomed by Shrek himself and it was funny that he keeps on smiling and wave to all people. Thanks to Solar-UIP and congrats for another cute and funny movie premiere.

Shrek Forever After is showing on May 20, 2010 in all Philippine cinemas, in 2D, 3D, and IMAX.

The Toys Plan Their Great Escape in TOY STORY 3

Disney/Pixar’s “Toy Story 3” welcomes Woody (voice of Tom Hanks), Buzz (voice of Tim Allen) and the whole gang back to the big screen as Andy prepares to depart for college and his loyal toys find themselves in… daycare! These untamed tots with their sticky little fingers do not play nice, so it’s all for one and one for all as plans for the Great Escape get underway. A few new faces—some plastic, some plush—join the adventure, including iconic swinging bachelor and Barbie’s counterpart, Ken (voice of Michael Keaton), a lederhosen-wearing thespian hedgehog named Mr. Pricklepants (voice of Timothy Dalton), and a pink, strawberry-scented teddy bear called Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear (voice of Ned Beatty). The Fab Femmes `Carrie' On in SEX AND THE CITY 2

Sex and the City 2
In bringing “Sex and the City” to the screen, writer-director Michael Patrick King, Sarah Jessica Parker and the rest of the cast felt a great sense of responsibility to their characters Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda, because each of the women is reflected somewhere in the audience. Therefore, in New Line Cinema’s highly awaited sequel “Sex and the City 2,” even though they vacate their daily lives and take an exhilarating romp in a stunning locale, the women continue to face very human, true-to-life concerns, as voiced by the ever-questioning chronicler, Carrie (Parker). Parkour Creator Trains Gyllenhaal for PRINCE OF PERSIA (Opens May 27)

In order for Disney’s “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” to showcase the fantastic parkour displays of gravity- and death-defying leaps and acrobatics that Jake Gyllenhaal’s character performs, the filmmaker went to the originator of parkour himself – the young legend David Belle.

“We decided to go right to the source,” says producer Jerry Bruckheimer. “We wanted the best of the best, and that’s David Belle.” (more below)

COMICS: Happy AVENGERS Day (May 19, 2010)

Happy Avengers Day to all Avengers and comic book fans! just announced few months ago about their plan to have this Avengers Day on May 19th, and now its already May 19th here in the Philippines, we are one day ahead of the date in the USA and from there, they will celebrate the Avengers Day in selected comic book shops. The event is inline with the historic release of Brian Michael Bendis and artist John Romita Jr's new comic book - AVENGERS #1, that will be available on May 19th in all comic stores and sounds like they are having a party, I wish we can have a party here in the Philippines.

attention comic book stores, can we have some kind of celebration this Saturday?
will Avengers #1 be available on weekend? But I think everyone will be at the Free Comic Book Day in Fully Booked BHS, I think that can be a good place to have a comic book Avengers Day assembly. game ba kayo lahat?

In the USA, they will be giving away Free Avengers #1 Romita Jr. limited edition prints, and various limited edition comic book cover variants of the comics.

check the video below of "I am An Avenger!"
ok, Avengers... assemble!

The face of the Fan Page

Many companies and establishments are jumping into Facebook Fan Page. It is special page in Facebook that gather all people who are interested and liked your page or shall we say, brand?. But I'm starting to be scared already because Facebook Fanpage don't have any back up tool or settings that can back up your members and Fanpage members. I hear news that other social networking sites are having hiccups, and there are reports of missing members in their online group are booting out of the page automatically. I even noticed that some pages of another site promotes me as admin and right now, I'm having some problem of deleting all those notification if I will approve those moderated messages and posts.

What should I do if ever Facebook Fan Page crashes and all those 12,000 or hundred of thousands of members were lost or gone, Is there a time for me to wait again and start over adding and inviting people to join my page, its just a scary prediction and I don't want it to happen. I also heard that Twitter failed one time and deleted all the followers, but later on the followers went back after some hours, but many people started to panic when they saw that all of their followers were gone.

I can still see that collecting email databases are still effective and an old school way of communicating to your people, you have back up and copy of the database and also you can use it any time. I just hope that Facebook Fanpage will have a back up tool or command that can export a file wherein your can also upload it and transfer a group of people into a new fan page.

jejejejem's production note 1

It's our first meeting for another project and I'm very impressed that everyone is dedicated and want to make this project materialize. It's good to know that one of the people I know in the circle is also part of the team. There are a lot of work needed and a July 2010 deadline already marked my calendar.

oh, got 2 new careers and pinned down both new jobs for one day. I can sense the old laptop will start to retire soon and grab a new laptop for the next century.

I like to laugh on the production note title, it will just immortalize a conversation earlier hahaha

9th Philippine Toy Convention production note 6

I finished my day with the 3 meetings and the last one here is the ToyCon meeting. Our meetings and production plan got delayed after the election 2010. It's a challenge for us now to organize the event with lots of planning and never ending closure of contracts with companies and sponsors. I can see now that our old partners and sponsors are active again, but others already informed us that they won't be participating, its kinda sad that we won't have them here, but I hope they are reversing their energies for the 2011 ToyCon.

Got a tight discussion with my group and Anime Alliance Philippines for brainstorming about the cosplay contest, I formulated a new contest mechanics and this will be applied in the future of ToyCon and in preparation of something big. hey! anyone here want's to go to Japan?

more updates, more meetings and my laptop broke down already, 9th ToyCon is the most challenging event for me and glad I have a great team with me organizing this pop culture event of the year.

Trying out this Mac Book Pro

I got this Mac Book Pro here at home and I'm starting to love it! and a fellow blogger told me that "if once you try a Mac, you wont go back!" But I don't know what will be my feeling if I will use this in around 3 weeks or so, and can't tell if I'm ready to leave Microsoft for good.

hahaha, but It will never happen, because this is just a demo unit for a hands on review of this new software installed in this Mac book, and it means.. not mine! ( i wish its mine na lang). But funny thing I opened the box and immediately plugged it. I saw the power of the charger lits up, and I love the idea of the magnetic connection of the charger to the Mac book, and then I scratch my head and began to look for the power button, and I told myself, "how this thing opens up", after a few minutes, the power button is located on the upper right.

Amuro Namie, the music and the wild energy

Namie Amuro 5
Jpop or Japanese pop music is my 3rd genre of music I loved, and I just discovered the style, culture and artistic arrangement of Jpop during the early 90's. I like to thank some of my old friends that I met way back during college, and people I met in U.P. Diliman who are hard core in Jpop and Jrock music that gave influence to me to try and listen the other side of Japanese pop culture. It was great to embrace it and a good jumpstart over my other pop culture hobby in anime. But I met this great artist and still the reigning number one "Queen of Japanese Pop Music" - Amuro Namie.

I never met her personally, but listening to music and watching her videos is like meeting her already, discovering her in 1996 is an eye opener for me about Jpop, and after watching all those VHS tape recorded tv episode of Music Station that I borrowed from friends and rented it from a Japanese grocery store, I saw that Amuro Namie is so popular and her music and style makes her more unique from other artist. She's on top of the level that I know in this year 2010, she is still the reigning Queen of Jpop, who brings wild energy to a wild music fan at heart. Pinoy music lovers knows her, because she's one of the best artist in Japan, and a big influence to rising and upcoming artist in their country. I remember her old tracks like "Body feel's exit" "You're my Sunshine", "Don't want to cry" and my last era of listening to her music is during the release of "Can you Celebrate".

If she will visit Manila, I assure you that I will be the 1st guy falling in line infront of the door of the concert venue. I grew up with her music, and also her fashion style is endless and comes with new trend, Amuro Namie is not just a trend in music, but the wild energy she gives in every generation never deteriorates and still comes in with fresh materials, concept and style.

Amuro Namie still under the Japanese record label "Avex Entertainment Inc., and she already releases her new hit single "Wild", which is now a hit in Japan. The dance/RnB/club driven track features the music of Michico and T.Kura of Giant Swing Productions, a catchy dance music and song with a lot of wild futuristic groove, this is her 11th number one single.

and this time, its my comeback to listen and enjoy her music again, check out her new video below

normal_namie-amuro-004-86414 2namie-amuro_size_800x600 normal_namie-amuro-038-142296 3namie-amuro_size_800x600
You can see here that nothing changed from Amuro Namie, now on her 30's ,she's still sexy, young and never stops making more music. And I have a feeling that she will conquer Manila in the coming weeks or month.

so if you wanna know more and get great news about Amuro Namie, I suggest all pinoy music fans should set their eyes to Coke Zero YouTube Channel / . Visit.... Add.... and Subscribe!

SWV performs at Then and Now Massive Music Festival 2010 in SM Mall of Asia

The Sisters with Voices or shall we say "SWV", is here!!, Coko, Taj and Lelee are back as the famous girl group SWV, I just can't believe that they are all here, I remember them during the 90's of MTV Asia, and performance and singing didn't even change after all these years. They performed first "Human Nature", "Weak" and other hits. The crowd become lively when they showed up on stage, event that we are tired of the 5 1/2 hour music festival, but SWV is a perfect set to end the massive music festival.

Jojo is back for the 2nd time and she performs at the festival with lots of songs and dance moves. I'm kinda surprise that she's now into sexy image and love to see her transform her self from wholesome to super sexy. Performing great hits like "Baby its you", "Too little, Too Late" and some new songs for her upcoming new album this year. She also wishes to come back here again to promote her album after recording and release the new record. Its great to see Jojo shows some concern over a lady sitting in the groun as she pauses and say "hey sister, are you okay there?" she knows that we at the audience are standing there and watching the whole festival for almost 5 hours. Jojo closes her act singing her song with Timbaland.

Baby Bash performs at Then and Now Massive Music Festival 2010 in SM Mall of Asia

Baby Bash entered the stage right after Frankie J and he comes in with 3 funny back up rappers, great performance with dancing and hip hop break dancing moves. He performs his hit song "Cyclone" and everyone dances hip hop style. He performs again with Frankie J at the end of the set and it was the coolest collab live act ever!

Frankie J performs at Then and Now Massive Music Festival 2010 in SM Mall of Asia

Frankie J is the coolest performer of the night, I just can't explain it, maybe the Rnb and radioactive rays merged when he performed. He performs his hits and original songs and his own cover song of Tears for Fears' "More than words". He played they keyboard in one of his songs and later on Baby Bash came on stage in a duet performance.

The night becomes lively with singing and dancing as Diana King appears on the stage and change the groove of the music ambiance with her great voice and high notes. she performs her hits like "I Say a little Prayer" and the ultimate LSS moment of our ears "Shy Guy". The night becomes an RnB and Reggae hour and Diana King just can't beleive that she's here in Manila after all years.
