Meet the modu™ phone: The lightest fashion heavy-hitter

The world's lightest phone is finally here in the Philippines, and if you see this phone in the palm of your hands, it is small and with fun and fashionable design. Its funny that I'm using this pink jacket for my modu, at first I thought it was blue or purple, but it was pink. I just used it and will post my phone review soon.

Ever been a victim of cellphone shame? Are you often embarrassed to pull out a dated device from your lipstick-red Kate Spade Bow Mirra clutch? Or simply mortified to show your mammoth mobile when hanging with the club crowd at Distillery? Really, how chic can you be with a cellphone clunker? Nothing kills your cool factor quicker than a cumbersome, outdated mobile.

To end your angst, Globe Tattoo, the hot new mobile brand from Globe Telecom, brings another first to Filipino cellphone fans with the upcoming launch of the new modu™ phone, available only from Globe. The modu™ phone is the world’s lightest phone that also happens to be one of the most compact, sleekest gadgets ever to fit in the palm of your hand. modu, the manufacturer of this diminutive device, and Globe, the country’s innovation leader, have teamed up for the exclusive first-time ever entry of this cool new mobile, sure to become the newest must-have for the hyper-connected fashion fanatic.

Recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records™ as the world’s lightest fully-functional phone, weighing in at a spare 1.5 oz., the modu™ phone features a dynamic user interface and a unique seven-key keypad that’ll make you do a double take when you see it. You can also choose whether you want your modu™ in hot pink, metallic blue, pearl white or classic black.

Otaku Kingdom 2009 at Enchanted Kingdom flyer

This is my 6th production note update and you can see that Project Mary Grace is the new event Otaku Kingdom 2009 at Enchnated Kingdom. I'm now into cramming mode and encountering some delays and problems about the booth exhibit at the tent. We are still finalizing all details for it, and if it comes to worst, I will cancel the booth exhibit because we are running out of time. The new people in their office is having some new rules and operations for the park, so we are trying to adjust and do the impossible to keep the event more kick ass just like last year.

I'm posting more details below on what I have finished this afternoon

Oxfam GB and Dakila - Philippine Collective for Modern Heroism have partnered together to bring you tik tok tik tok: time for climate action, a global movement campaigning for a fair and safe deal in the Copenhagen summit.

The gathering will present videos on the climate issue and tell you more about the global campaign which aims to deliver a strong statement on climate action for the UN Conference in Copenhagen this December.

More than fifty artist advocates for the campaign will be there to learn more about the climate issue and express their support for climate action. These artists advocates include Miriam Quiambao, Rovilson Fernandez, Marc Abaya, Diether Ocampo, Kate Toralba, Lourd de Veyra of the Radioactive Sago Project, Ebe Dancel of Sugarfree, Noel Cabangon, Ramon Bautista, Toni Gonzaga and many more artists from various fields of art.

Food tripping like a cowboy at Texas Roadhouse Grill

Food tripping like a cowboy at Texas Roadhouse Grill (12)
My first visit at Texas Roadhouse Grill is at their Bonifacio High Street branch, I love the place and the bar decors and design transport me into a real wild west and cowboy setting. They now have a branch in El Pueblo Real de Manila, Ortigas Center and I'm very happy that they opened up a branch for us people love to hang out near Mandaluyong and Ortigas. The most talk of the town of Texas Roadhouse Grill is their baby back ribs and pasta. It's 2009 already and I just can't believe that time fly so fast, do you know that the 1st branch opened on March 2007 and followed up a branch in Ortigas on November 2007. I think the last time I was there was in late of 2007. Oh that was close for the El pueblo branch.

I just tasted 4 dishes and this is new to me. Check out my food tripping and food feature with a sense of being a yeeehawww cowboy style.

Canon Future Nation introduces 7 cutting edge digital cameras

Canon Future Nation (2)
Canon Future Nation was launched few days ago and everyone got excited to see and check out the release of 6 compact cameras and 1 dslr. Canon Future Nation was well attended by business partners, media and camera fans at the Whitespace Contemporary in Makati, there we saw and tested cameras like the prosumer PowerShot G11 and S90, the telephoto PowerShot SX20 IS and SX120 IS, the slim and stylish Digital IXUS 120 IS and 200 IS, and the much-anticipated EOS 7D DSLR.

I'm still eyeing on some point and shoot Canon cameras, as I got interested on it after using a Canon IXUS 110 IS and featured it here in my blog. I'm very impressed on its Smart Auto mode with scene detection technology and its AF settings. I was about to grab a Canon dslr in the past, but landed on another lovable brand, but I know how canon works and I now recommend it to everyone. I have friends who uses a Powershot cameras and I'm amazed on its telephoto features and ability to take pictures and video at the same time. At the launching event, various models and the new cameras were displayed and ready for testing, but Canon EOS 7D was not there, or I might not seen it at the exhibit.

Canon Future Nation (1)
Also I like to congratulate Canon for receiving a prestigious EISA awards in Europe, three best products were awarded and that is the Canon EOS 5D Mark II as European Advanced Camera 2009–2010; the Canon EOS 500D as European SLR Camera 2009–2010; and the Canon PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II as European Photo Printer 2009–2010.

I really like to feature all the cameras and do a review, but let me show you first the new cameras  and hope to post a review and feature them each in my blog. Read more below for a camera feature.

The First Philippine Kpop Convention 2009

Official update : Event will be on December 5, 2009 at Starmall Alabang
read the details below...

Here's a teaser for everyone who are in to Korean Pop, and since that we have already the 1st Korean Film Festival, now we have an event all about Kpop. The First Philippine Kpop Convention 2009, this event is scheduled on October 31, 2009. I heard that their first venue will be at UP Bahay ng Alumni, I just received an Facebook PM invite message from a friend who is involved organizing the event, but there's some slight changes and they are looking for a new venue, I'm helping them get a new venue and let's see within the week if we can close that deal with an upcoming venue sponsor.

for details of the event visit http://kpopcon.info/
and Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Philippine-Kpop-Convention/132115926438?ref=ts
the site is not yet updated, but here's a short info about the kpop event

Korean pop culture has gained further ground in the Philippine mainstream, thanks to the strong impact of the Hallyu Wave, which brought with it unprecedented numbers of Korean dramas in the two major television networks as well as a deluge of Korean artists such as DBSK/TVXQ, Se7en, Super Junior, Wondergirls, Big Bang and 2NE1.

On the heels of the celebration of the Philippine-Korean Friendship Year and the strong momentum of the Hallyu Wave, the thirteen major local Kpop fanclubs in the country, headed by Cassiopeia Ph are organizing the very first Kpop Convention in the Philippines this October, which is a fund-raising activity for Gawad Kalinga, a local non-profit organization aimed at providing less fortunate Filipinos with homes to call their own.

Entitled “The First Philippine Kpop Convention: Of Fun, Friendship, and Fandom”, this event aims to gather Korean pop culture enthusiasts and promote Korean pop culture by becoming a singular avenue where fans, enthusiasts, and the rest of the public can interact and share what they love about Korea. Activity booths will be set-up and there will be games and performances for the enjoyment of the attendees.
------

Question now to my readers and kpop fans.
What do you want to see and experience in a Kpop Convention ?

--

OKAY here's an update ( NOVEMBER 20, 2009)

here's the video

and the poster

and the info

For the longest time now, Kpop fans have been scattered all over the Philippines, with only the internet as a place of convergence. For the longest time, Filipino Kpop fans have been staying within the fringes of the global kpop fanbase. Forums, groups, and private meetings could only go so much. Now, for the first time ever, we present to you the first ever Philippine Kpop Convention, an event that boasts of being the largest gathering of Kpop fans in the country. Local FCs finally unite under the banner of one event that aims not only to bring Kpop fans together, but to support a cause that would help less fortunate children through Gawad Kalinga.

Enjoy a five-hour long program of Kpop performances, Kosplay, K-star sing/dance contests, stand-up Komedy, plus the much-anticipated First Philippine Kpop Awards. Each participating fanclub will host their own FC and Activity Booths and fans can become official members, purchase goods, participate in activities and enjoy perks prepared by various FCs.
Spearheaded by Cass PH, in cooperation with BigBang PH, Super Junior United PH, Shinhwa PH, Wonderful PH, SHINeeWorld PH, Cloud PH, Perf(x)ion PH, 2NE1 PH, 2ONEDAY PH, Girls Generation PH, Triple S PH, Primadonna PH, and also presented by Starmall Alabang together with Flippish.com and MYX, and supported by KGoodies and twinzy.com, this fund-raising event on December 5th 2009 at Starmall Alabang would prove to be the most monumental, most ambitious gathering in all of Philippine Kpop history- the first of more to come.

Don’t miss it… for anything in the world! For more information, please visit kpopcon.info.

Greenpeace to support global premier of Age of Stupid

Greenpeace is supporting the global premiere of the climate docu-drama-animation Age of Stupid - which coincides with the UN General Assembly in New York - in 25 countries and 6 continents [1], as part of the campaign to get a deal that is fair, ambitious and binding at this year’s UN Climate Summit in Copenhagen. Hundreds of cinemas in over 40 countries around the world – in every continent, including Antarctica - will be showing the film on 21st and 22nd September, hopefully setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest ever simultaneous screening.

“The goal is to get this film in front of 250 million people, and create 25 million climate activists,” said Martin Lloyd, climate communications manager at Greenpeace International. “That might be an impossible goal, but we’d be stupid not to try.”

Mayweather-Marquez fight

(Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images via Yahoo! sports)

The fight ended with an unanimous decision victory for Floyd Mayweather against Juan Marquez. I'm a little bit disappointed that I'm not well excited about the fight, but I am curious for the final result and it seems that its hard for Marquez to pin down Mayweather in this 12 round fight. I just logged on and catch up to watch Round 8 in the internet and thanks to my Plurk friends for providing a link of the video streaming. I didn't know that Marquez become so troubled after a KO fall on Round 2 and some foot stand errors after that rounds. I guess Marquez got too much excited to attempt a KO punch to Mayweather, but I see that all of his punches were all dodged by Mayweather and results to open channels for a receiving counter punch to Marquez.

I'll watch the interview replay later because there's some slight commotion in the ring during Mayweather's interview and people didn't liked what they see live and HBO decided to cut the interview, Mayweather displayed a not so good behavior and the announcer didn't like it.

My interest now is to see Manny Pacquiao TKO Mayweather, but before that we will see Pacquiao fight Cotto in the next coming months.

Check out our live discussions of the fight here at http://www.plurk.com/p/1zpaum

Saturday mania is complete

P9187880
It was my whole day of photo coverage of two events and a busy day for me and tiring. A friend media photographer invited me to cover the Urian awards that night, but I found myself not into the attire and wearing shorts and sneakers. Oh man, I think its time for me to wear media clothes in the future and formalize Pop Machine Media Group as our bloggers team, can't believe that this team already existed since 2003.

I'm posting some personal stuff for awhile, because I'll be busy managing all the photos and a compose lots of write ups. It was a very productive Saturday for me. My sis treated me in SM Megamall and enjoyed that Tutti Fruti Yogurt at the Atrium.
