A hearty movie of a chance with meatballs - yummy movie review

If you dream of eating forever and making your stomach full with no worries, and waking up in the
morning and found out that your entire neighborhood plays ice cream snow ball or play inside a jello with sculptures and playground made of yummy jelly, then you should see and watch the movie A Cloudy Chance with Meatballs in IMAX. Watching it in IMAX 3D fools our eyes again as flying cheese burgers floats and falls from the sky and nearly drops before your eyes, the 3D effects is not that full and layers of elements are only limited, but the only good thing in IMAX 3D of this movie is that the colors and flat designs are big and eye catchy to the viewers.  I became so noisy inside the IMAX theater because I enjoy watching the movie so much, laughing and always say wow whenever I see new food falls from the sky, I like to advice that you should see this movie with a full stomach because looking at those cartoon characters eating and enjoying the food they get you might feel a little bit hungry or want to grab the nearest food resto nearby after the cinema.

The movie is not much the same with the story from the original 1978 book from where it originates, but the story is not about the food, the characters, or the machine that Flint invented, the movie is all about the town. People were eager to make it popular and become well known to the other part of the world, the story revolves on people became desperate to have a better town and make it famous. I love the music and the songs they played in the movie, feels like that I'm watching that high school musical or those childrens tv show like High 5 that inolves pop music and funny images. I also love the ending credits of the movie, you'll know why, maybe they did that to have some sort of tribute to the book, but with that kindof animation style, the movie is a best nominee to have its own tv series.

Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs is an animated movie that everyone will love, kids will love it, adults will love it, teens will love it, and dating couples will love it, you need to grab your own food if you plan to watch it because the movie will drive you hungry, make you laugh and also understand the responsibility and partnership of parents and their kids.

watch it in IMAX 3D!, its good and worth it for your money, because its a full 3D visuals. (more below)

SMILDS meets the bloggers

SMILDS met the bloggers few nights ago and they introduced to us  their online service were you can have your own online store and a new payment system that they operated within the online store. The online shopping system was developed by and they want to introduce these services to pinoy SMEs. They conducted a preview and seminar for us to know more about their services, you can check it out at The good part here is that they have an escrow payment, means that they will pay the seller once they confirmed that the item was delivered to the buyer. One of the security features that can protect buyers and also give credibility to the online sellers.

They rewarded us a P25,000 worth of online store set up and also a VISA debit card that we can use to buy stuff online at Smilds and also anywhere. It was like a graduation ball, everyone is dressed up and enjoyed good food of the hotel. Check out some pics below

Sony Philippines Partners with The Mind Museum to encourage Filipinos to make.believe

When I first heard and attended the preview of Mind Museum last year, I became so excited and amazed on their concept, then I saw a replica of a baby Blue Whale in Glorietta 5, it was like a real whale in the middle of the mall, and now, the only thing to make my excitement be double is that Sony is here to make us believe on this new concept as they partnered now with Mind Museum in Taguig city. read the news below.
(you can still catch the baby blue whale at Market! Market from January 18 to February 2, and Greenbelt from February 3 - 17.)

In 1946, two young Japanese men decided to start a humble company founded on a belief that they can turn ideas into reality. From that initial spark followed decades of innovation that has transformed the lives of countless people, across generations. That simple dream of Akio Morita and Masaru Ibuka became the global leader that is Sony.

This courage to dream and to use technology to act on a dream is something Sony wishes to share with consumers today with its unified brand message make.believe. “Believe” represents Sony’s ideas and ideals – the ability to think, imagine and dream – while “make” signifies the Company’s unique ability to turn these ideas into reality. The “dot” is where inspiration meets creativity and creativity meets reality.(more below)

You can still have a chance to watch the Killers live!

It kinda sucks that they booted out and canceled their own concert, and now fans are disappointed, but there are unforeseen circumstances and they needed to go back home. But don't worry, you can still watch them live! read the info below

The Killers fans will appreciate how faithful LIVE FROM THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL is to the band’s sight and sound onstage. Moreover, the songs cut across all four of the Killers’ album releases, from their debut Hot Fuss (“Somebody Told Me,” “Smile Like You Mean It,” “Mr. Brightside,” “All These Things That I've Done,” “Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine”); to Sam’s Town (“For Reasons Unknown,” “Bling (Confessions Of A King),” “Sam’s Town (acoustic),” “Read My Mind,” “The River Is Wild,” “Bones,” “When You Were Young”); to Sawdust (“Shadowplay,” “Sweet Talk”); and Day & Age (“Human,” “This Is Your Life,” “The World We Live In,” “Joy Ride,” “I Can’t Stay,” “Losing Touch,” “Spaceman,” “A Dustland Fairytale”).

The DVD, who’s running time is over 2 hours, is packed with bonus extras – starting with an additional five songs from the festival tour: “Tranquilize” (live at the Oxegen Festival in Ireland, July 12th); “Human” and “Mr. Brightside” (from Hyde Park in London on June 26th); and “Smile Like You Mean It” and “When You Were Young” (from the V Festival in August). A behind-the-scenes documentary, including interviews with crew and fans, rounds out the bonus content on the DVD. (more below)

That's for you! mr. gatecrasher

I just got into a fight earlier and looks like the old guy is a gatecrasher to this event that I attended earlier. I encounter lots of gatecrashers to some events and I just don't mind them and leave them in their world, but the incident this afternoon made me explode and can't help my self to fight back for that big insult. I blame myself for placing that empty wrapper of my cream puff from the cocktails to this empty glass with full of trash, like bbq sticks and other wrappers, beside that is an old man eating with lots of drinks on his table and some trash or food left overs. After I place my trash (because there's no trash anywhere and I need to move out because the even just started and need to take photos). The guy shouted at me that I should not do that because he is still eating, and I'm very impolite for that action, I grabbed my wrapper out of the glass and told the old guy a super super sorry, and apologize with all my heart, because it is my fault and want to understand that he is an old guy, and thought that he might be fellow photographer, because his bag is big.

Then after I apologize, he still shouted at me and rants all the way, I apologize again and then he begins to blabber the same words, and then I snapped completely and shouted at him that he is the one impolite for not accepting my apology, I told him that if he could not accept my apology then shut up because he has a big problem over it. I avoided the guy and didn't expected that there are security guards near him and watching him and waiting for him to finish his food, I was standing infront of him, staring at him and saw that the guards went around him and began asking questions.

well, the guy is a gatecrasher of the event and not part of the media or guest. The security personnel assisted the guy and told him that the event is for invited guests only. My attention was captured by a fellow blogger and then I got cooled down and minded my own business again to cover the event. I didn't know what happened to the guy, but all I know is that when security is there, I'll leave it to them.

The venue of the event is so big and its an easy access for people, you can't even tell who are the guests and who are the customers of the store. I just hope that next time they should place a cordoned off area for cocktails or food area, they can put a stanchion around it with security or staff to monitor the area. That way we can avoid this incident and hope there's a trash can nearby.

after the incident, I still enjoyed attending  the event and meet our blogger friends who are covering the event too.

Move your events and classified ads post to OLX

Free classified ads are the big boom here in the Philippines and I remembered that OLX is one of the 1st and active online classified ads to offer free of posting to all users worldwide. I'm not sure if it is operated locally or some foreign company is maybe behind it. But I know that I discovered OLX in Friendster's having a Classified ads link from my user interface. They became the official classified ads link and I think they are still active today in Friendster, all it requires is that you sign up an account and then start posting lots of unlimited ads online.

I'm using OLX in posting and promoting my events, been a user of this site ever since they started and I felt that the effectiveness of the ads, especially when I need some band performers or retailers for my event. Thanks to their WYSIWYG editor, all I need to do is copy and paste my entire post from my blog to the OLX classified ad post. It is very simple and you can also map the location of your event or your ad, like you can have a For Sale Quezon City link or a rental space in an Office Makati

You can also get some cool stuff at OLX, like this life size statue of R2D2 for sale, that I almost got crazy and prized at P15k.

and for an example, I posted also the Arts and Music festival event here

The 5th Backdoor Ventures Arts and Music Festival will be held on February 5 – 7, 2010 - Mandaluyong - Events_1264201578355

- You can use OLX for online presence of your item or event
- awareness of your event
-  increase blog traffic and SEO
- and also find cool stuff that you can take home
- and also meet new people :)

drinks, hate and space

I don't know why I am starting to hate this bar, they have a great line up of bands and good music, place is great and popular as one of the best alternative space in Manila, but then I got turned off on some people who go there.

maybe because that I was there to have fun and enjoy great music, plus my below zero degree SMB beer, but then I started to feel annoyed when some yadididadadaa younglings came in and watch this band perform in the front and then starting to roll their eyes to all the people around them, looks like they are spotting someone or maybe looking for  some good looking guys, sorry that I became so O-A already. And mention to myself...geeez these young girls are so different from my years and they look more aggressive. I'm old and active in the old years in bar events, and I know how people behave when they want to hook up.

i think i'm starting to get old and grumpy. hmmm i need more beer pls.

but in this year, you can no longer experience that a girl-stranger will offer you a beer drink when you are minding your own business alone in the bar counter.i dont know, but that's only my comment to my issue hhahaha..

smiling and laughing with Sarah Geronimo

I met her again and this time it was pure laugh and smiles, she's really nice and funny too, I love her answers to all those showbiz interviews by the media, she even told us that no one invited her yet for a valentine's day date, ( i was raising my hand that time, but my hand is behind my back haaha).so when the media ask her "kung saan nya gusto mag valentines date", then Sarah answered "eh di sa dining table", then we LOL all the way.

I met Sarah at the press launching of Cebuana Lhuillier 24K Loyalty Card in Shangri La Hotel Makati and it's great to hear this reward program for all their customers, and this is supported by their endorser pop star princess Sarah Geronimo, will blog next about this reward card that was presented to us by Jean Henri Lhuillier, President and CEO of P.J. Lhuillier Group of Companies , and Ms. Mars Ancog, Group head for PJLI Corporate Planning.

Sabrina : our original acoustic sensation is back with "I love Acoustic Too"

I don't know why she's gone for awhile, and I asked a friend about her, but I she was missing in action for real, but glad that she's back and want to see her play real acoustic music, she's good and one talented artist, and I agree, as she is the original acoustic sensation.

i love acoustic too digipak
Her debut album topped the charts, her music is making waves in major establishments, she is sought after in international territories such as Thailand and Indonesia --- She is no less than SABRINA -- the newest acoustic sensation to bring back people’s fancy for gentle string sounds and sweet melodies. There may have been a plethora of other Acoustic artists who have emerged left and right, but SABRINA is truly the ORIGINAL songstress who redefined acoustic to a whole new level. After the unyielding success of her debut album “I LOVE ACOUSTIC”, a more refreshing and exciting follow-up is bound to take the acoustic fever to a higher level with her latest release under MCA Music, “I LOVE ACOUSTIC TOO”.(more below)

Janet Jackson's Greatest Hits Celebrated on THE BEST

I admit, that I am a little fan of Janet Jackson, ever since she began into the music, I kinda followed her, glad to hear about this best collection of songs, now I'm itchy to play "Again" in keyboards. That's thanks to the powerful Music Television during the early 90s.

Janet Jackson has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, and is one of the best-selling artists in contemporary music. For the first time ever, 33 of Janet's global #1 hits, plus the newly recorded single, "Make Me," will be available on one album—THE BEST.

The two-disc set, worldwide titled Janet Jackson: The Best, celebrates the career and artistry of one of the most successful and influential artists in music history.

Among the album's many highlights is new single "Make Me," which was produced by Janet and Rodney Jerkins. The Best spans more than 20 years of chart-toppers, every #1 track spun off from Janet's original albums, from her 1986 blockbuster breakthrough Control to her most recent, 2008's Discipline.

Janet Jackson - The Best is the first greatest hits compilation from Janet in this century. Janet's last hits collection was released in 1995. Janet Jackson – The Best is brought to you by MCA Music and Magic 89.9’s Friday Madness. The two-disc set is available in major record stores nationwide for Php495.

500 days of Summer movie director, Marc Webb, to direct new Spider-man movie

all I can say is that.... SWEET DISPOSITION! haahahah, but then my mind changed and I became excited. I want Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker love story hahahaha.

Stan Lee, co-creator of Spider-Man, added, "I'm excited that Sony has chosen a director with a real penchant and understanding for the character. This is a brave, bold direction for the franchise, and I can't wait to see what Marc comes up with next."

Marc Webb Chosen To Direct Next Chapter of the Acclaimed Series
-Spider-Man to Climb into Theaters in Summer, 2012 -

CULVER CITY, Calif., January 19, 2010 – Marc Webb, the director of the Golden Globe nominated Best Picture (500) Days of Summer, will direct the next chapter in the Spider-Man franchise, set to hit theaters summer 2012, it was jointly announced today by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios.

Written by James Vanderbilt, Webb will work closely with producers Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin in developing the project, which will begin production later this year.

Still of Marc Webb in (500) Days of Summer
Commenting on the announcement, Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Matt Tolmach, president of Columbia Pictures, said, "At its core, Spider-Man is a small, intimate human story about an everyday teenager that takes place in an epic super-human world. The key for us as we sought a new director was to identify filmmakers who could give sharp focus to Peter Parker's life. We wanted someone who could capture the awe of being in Peter's shoes so the audience could experience his sense of discovery while giving real heart to the emotion, anxiety, and recklessness of that age and coupling all of that with the adrenaline of Spider-Man's adventure. We believe Marc Webb is the perfect choice to bring us on that journey." (more below)

some kind of french toast

This morning, I decided to man the kitchen and cook our food for breakfast, Lace woke me up and joke around that I cook some french toast for her, then I told her that I requested that french toast meal yesterday, but I know she's lazy and want to try my cooking kung fu style, then I decided to cook and do that experimental cooking style  I learned from my sister Joisu. I open up the stove, throw some margarines over the pan, and grab a loaf of bread then I punched a hole in the middle of one bread then throw it on the pan, cooked it there, toast it and then fried an egg inside that hole, and then cook the other side.

It's funny because I did this for the 2nd time only, last time I cook this was 2 years ago and it's not really a french toast, I forgot to add some cheese to add some creamy taste, but when I tasted it and eat some, tasted like a bibingka...

and I love it, because I'm so addicted to bibingka. I think the taste of the egg and star margarine tricked my tongue and got the similar taste of a bibingka. because of that I love it already..I will cook more for my self later heheheh.

Avoiding some empty space

Hello 2010! You are making me so busy and I love it! this is the only thing that makes me active and alive, work work work and travel to different place. I'm starting to prepare for another future and its hard to maintain a balance income as I contact people from left to right and send billing statements for some services that I gave to them. I'm trying to avoid myself hanging on air, as the room will begin to stay quite and calm, my mind will roll down again and think more and it will lead to negativity. Kinda sucks when that happens because it's like that you need a helmet and avoid being hit in the head with a baseball bat and a ringing noise will come and wakes you up, and talk to yourself that you must stay awake and continue to work. But I'm still looking for work and even that I have some kind of work, that involves blogging and taking pictures, I still need more and not comfortable with it, looks like I need to hit a jackpot, you see my brain thinks that way, so the result will be a very stressful minute or hour, that's why I love to be busy and work more here with my laptop, I can skip lunch or dinner and finish all of this, blog blog blog blog and publish more blogs and nonsense articles and weird stuff. Sometimes I saw some sort of my future and it leads to a big desk and a chair, and there's me typing and sipping hot coffee, oh wait.. that's the present pala..arghhh

Time travelling with the new Levi's Modern Vintage Collection

Levi's is back again and they introduced to us the new collection for their Spring Summer 2010 Collection, and if people love wearing 501 and 505, I know they will love the new design as they bring back the classic style and original Levi's jeans that was used back in 1873. With their new additon called the Levi's Modern Vintage Collection, they used the original gold stitch layout, pocket patches, and the white Levi's button in the Modern Vintage jeans. And because many people are fond of wearing jeans of other genders, like men love to wear straighy fit women jeans while others like women are now wearing men's jeans, the Modern Vintage Collection introduced the Slim Straight, Slim Straight Fit, Regular Fit and Boot Cut for men, while for the ladies they have the Slim Patty Anne Fit, Slim Straight Elise and Slim Boyfriend Fit.
P1171295 P1171294
The Levi's Modern Vintage Collection is already available in their Original Levi’s® Stores and Levi’s® Premium Stores nationwide, and I'm very happy that I own one Levi's jeans and I will wear this Straight fit at an event tonight, love to pair it with my Nike Shoes. Everyone will feel sexy by wearing these jeans and I felt sexy when I wear it, no kidding! wearing it feels like that it came from the year 1800's. Nasabi ko bigla na, ganun pala ang jeans dati and looks modern pala. (read more below)

The Princess and the Frog : Disney Returns to Hand-Drawn Animation

3D and CGI animation has its place now in the movies, but for Walt Disney, they are bringing back the roots and original way of making animation - hand drawing!, love to see a 2D animation and this can't be replaced.

Time Magazine’s choice as the Best Motion Picture of 2009, “The Princess and the Frog” marks Walt Disney Animation Studios’ return to hand-drawn animation, a return to the classic fairy tale and a return to the musical – in the tradition of “A Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin” and “The Lion King.”

“If there was a single lesson we could take from Walt Disney himself to take Walt Disney Animation Studios into the future,” says executive producer John Lasseter, “it is to leverage the richness of its past: its beloved storytelling forms, its successful characters, its musical opulence—all of these are an essential part of our newest hand-drawn project.” (read more below)

The perfect crime—victimless, nonviolent and undetectable—goes terribly awry in Columbia Pictures’ no-holds-barred, action-packed thriller “Armored.” A crew of armored truck guards executes a meticulously planned robbery of their own security firm, but when their seemingly foolproof plan unravels, the men turn against each other as they desperately try to save themselves.

“Armored” stars Matt Dillon (“Crash”), Jean Reno (“The Da Vinci Code”), Laurence Fishburne (“The Matrix”), Amaury Nolasco (TV’s “Prison Break”), Milo Ventimiglia (TV’s “Heroes”), Skeet Ulrich (TV’s “Jericho”) and Columbus Short (“Stomp the Yard”).

After the death of his parents, Ty Hackett (Short) returns from active duty in Iraq to face a stack of unpaid medical bills, a mortgage and the responsibility for his 14-year-old brother, Jimmy. Ty signs on as a guard at Eagle Shield Security, the same armored car service his father worked for. Under the tutelage of his godfather, Chief Officer Michael Cochrane (Dillon), Ty trains for a grueling and often dangerous new career.

Archangel Vs. Archangel in LEGION (opens on January 22 Philippines)

Archangel Michael, the defender of mankind, goes up against Archangel Gabriel, God’s messenger, in the ultimate battle for salvation in Columbia Pictures’ supernatural action-thriller “Legion.”

When God loses faith in mankind, He sends a legion of angels led by Gabriel (“Wolverine’s” Kevin Durand) to bring on the apocalypse. Humanity's only hope lies in a group of strangers trapped in a desert diner and the Archangel Michael (“The Da Vinci Code’s” Paul Bettany)

In “Legion,” the climactic confrontation between the two archangels could be called sibling rivalry taken to a cosmic extreme. “Paul and I played it like we were brothers who were always vying for the attention and love of their father,” says Kevin Durand. “Michael was the one who got most of the love, without having to abide by the rules. Gabriel always went by the book and never got the attention he thought he deserved. This battle comes down to eons of competition.” ( read more below)

test drive with Canon IXUS 120 IS

I didn't expect that this is a much higher model of the IS series and last time I test drive a Canon IXUS 110 IS here in my blog and seems that I like more on the 110 IS series than the new version, or maybe I haven't explored the new 120 IS. I still keep on using the AUTO setting and still the best settings for a point and shoot camera. 12.1 megapixels for the Canon IXUS 120 IS and I must research more and it seems the manual settings is gone. But the great settings for Canon is the widescreen 4000 x 2248 pixels. Below are some of my test shots

Voters Education - the gig! @ Saguijo (photo coverage)

I went to Saguijo in Makati City at around 10pm and I got late as usual and came from a long trip going to Tarlac and Cavite.I got in time for the 2nd or maybe 3rd band that was performing and before I entered the gate I was greeting by Maan and Marilet and later on Paul of the team and met another guy who will help us around in organizing a big concert soon. Then saw Beng and company of DRIP and it was ages the last time we saw each other and got a tip from them that they will release 3 music videos on January 29 at 9pm in The Gallery, Greenbelt 5.

I went inside the bar, and Paul got some beers for me, there I saw Noelledeg sitting near the bar and approach her and asking if she got there on time, and then she told me that she's the emcee of the night, oh wow! then after taking some photos of the band performing, my lens just caught Drip, Techyromantics and December Avenue performing live. I just can't tell if this is my 2nd time to see Techyromantics to perform, and December Avenue is good ha!, but lahat naman ok and like the arrangements of these indie bands. And for DRIP.. im a fanboy for life since they performed for ToyCon 2003.

Gay Cabalo of Smartmatic was there again and instead of setting up a guitar or a drum set, she set's up the PCOS machine or normally called the automated voting machine, she did a demo as usual and asked someone from the audience to participate to try and insert the modern ballot into the machine and explains how easy it is to use these modern voting machines and ballot. The event is a success even though that some youngsters doesn't like listening to the demo and lecture and want to stay outside chikkahan with their friends or barkada, or maybe they just was there to meet or have fun and not aware of the voter's education night. It was still a success and thanks to the team, Saguijo, the indie bands and the gig visitors for coming and joined a rock and roll voters education. Hope to see more of this gig in the coming weeks

Discovery and Hasbro will launch THE HUB - new tv network for kids

I can sense that they will be releasing a new Transformers tv series and also bring back the old cartoon classics that are owned by Hasbro including My Little Pony, Visionaries and many more. Hope this new tv network for kids will be available here in the Philippines.

--New Joint Venture Children’s Network to Launch in Fall 2010--
(Los Angeles, Calif.)—Discovery Communications-Hasbro Joint Venture President and CEO Margaret Loesch today unveiled the official brand and logo for the children’s network, set to launch in fall 2010. Moving forward, the network will be known as "The Hub" and will reach approximately 60 million homes on what is currently the Discovery Kids network.

"A hub is a place where great things come together—and that is precisely what The Hub network will be when it launches," said Loesch. "The Hub will be a fun and transformative destination that brings kids and their families together by presenting clever stories and engaging characters."

The Hub will offer young viewers and their families novel and compelling content, ranging from new comedies and animated adventures to live-action franchises and game shows—all celebrating the core childhood concepts of fun and play. The network’s tone will be thrilling, modern and dynamic, both on-air and online. These qualities are represented by The Hub’s spiral logo, which symbolizes a catalyst of action and imagination. In addition, the network will benefit from the strong DNA of its two parent companies, Discovery and Hasbro, which share a 50/50 partnership in the venture. (read more below)
