Guest in ABS CBN Umagang Kay Ganda morning show - 13th Philippine Toycon 2014 production note 7

June 17th was our schedule tv appearance and feature in ABS CBN’s Umagang Kay Ganda morning tv show that starts from 5:00am up to 7:30am. As usual, I tried to avoid any morning show guesting, but I placed my heart on to it that I should be present here again to promote our Toycon event. I missed the morning show tv guesting for two years already and this is my come back to join the fun the Philippine Toycon friends and community. Last time I was here is that there’s a typhoon, but I’m glad that the studio renovated a portion of the drive way with a nice ventillation and high ceiling tarp cover. It’s a perfect venue for our Toycon guesting.

Toycon x DLS-CSB BinD conference - 13th Philippine Toycon 2014 production note 6

It’s a two week preparation and planning via email for this new event, we tied up with DLS CSB Benildean Industrial Designer students in organizing a mini Toycon event and conference for June 13th. When I first received an invitation from Ram Esguerra of DLS CSB BiND team, he offered a venue for us to talk about our event and also get a chance to promote it as well. I was hesitant at first because the target date in the first place is on June 18th, and then I suggested to Ram that its better to schedule it a week before our main event. I’m glad that all is well and he got a nice sched of June 13th and book the SDA main theater as our venue. Its been ages for me since the last time I went to DLS CSB, but this is also a good chance to build new friends and partnership for our Philippine Toycon event. I learned that the Industrial Design course offers also toy designing as one of their subjects. I got the interest to know more about it, and maybe our next generation toy designer and makers might come from this school.

Its twoo weeks and 1 grand meeting, we finally pulled it off. I was there with other Toycon partners and friends to do a short exhibit, share a talk about the hobby and fandom and also we got a chance to judge DLS CSB’s very own Toy designing contest.

Aftermath: tv guesting in ANC Dateline Philippines - 13th Philippine Toycon 2014 production note 5

It’s a one day preparation for the live tv guesting at ANC’s Dateline Philippines, I’m a bit comfortable already to go solo for the tv interview and its my 2nd time here in Dateline Philippines as a live tv guest. I was hoping that the two other members of our organizing team will be with me but the schedule just hit the same date for Father’s Day, so I already expected that our daddy Toycon organizers will not be available, and since I just came back from Tagaytay, I already set a schedule with the tv crew and coordinated this with my team and they gave green light that I will go solo this time hahaha.

I know its all English language for ANC and I prepared for at least a year that I should get the best comfortable state when I go live on TV, I did some research about the show and also how their tv anchors speak and do interview on live tv, I learned that tv news anchor Caroline Howard and Stanley Palisada can shift to Tagalog language during interviews.

Welcome back to my production notes and blog for my event 13th Philippine Toycon, I’ve been blogging my production notes every year and this post will document everything about the behind the scenes in organizing the biggest and long time running pop culture and geek event in South East Asia.

We’re so busy and we already devoted our 12 hours this month for organizing the event and we have 14 days to go before the big day. We have to make sure that all stuff are being delivered on time. If we deliver and finish early, we can sleep quietly and live a life without eye bags hahaha.

13th Philippine Toycon 2014 production note 1

Hello!!!! this is my first production note for our 13th Philippine Toycon event, you’ll see some updates and also behind the scenes in organizing the biggest pop culture and toy event in the Philippines.

I was absent for two months already and I missed 3 or 4 meetings already, but few weeks ago, I successfully joined the crew for a meeting. I received lots of plans for the event this June 20-22, 2014. I updated the marketing plans and social media pages of PH ToyCon and I posted already the call for exhibitors.

There are a lot of concerns lately but I’m glad that all members of core group are complete and professional inputs were delivered and then our problems were solved immediately. I’m also excited for our upcoming event launch that will happen in the next 2 months. Last year we held our event launch and press conference in Resorts World Manila, I learned from our meeting that the event launch of ToyCon attracted a lot of visitors in the mall and it was the busiest and largest foot traffic of shoppers and mall goers. Our event launch attracted not only the fans and hobbyist but also the mainstream TV media.

For this year, we will double up the excitement and also the output, sometimes I’m more excited for the event launch and not the main Toycon event hahahaha. I’m reading lots of emails and also proposals coming from different industries, all of them wants to join in our event, but we need to make a study and see if they are fit to our event. From band performers to booth exhibitors to celebrity guest, yes. all of it are pouring in to our inbox, but as of now, we’re still fixing the layout and plans with our sponsors, and after that, we can now proceed for the production.


We almost met the official licensee of a big toy brand and movie in our last meeting. I’m so excited that they will join in our event and I already sent some request like if they can invite Hollywood celebs to our event and also display the best prop used in the movie. I’m sure everyone knows what movie that I’m talking about, but if you visit our website, you can see that we are highlighting two movies for June 2014.

At first I thought that Godzilla will land in June, but I learned that the movie will be released on May 2014, so I guess Godzilla is out already.

Azrael’s Merryland the web show–in the works this 2014 (production note 1)

The message last November 30, 2013 at 3:37am was --- “ I'm proposing for an online tv show, your own online tv show. Tentative schedule of first test broadcast. January or February 2013” When I received that message, I wasn’t so serious and then I did a little research about the guy who sent me the message, then I learned that he got a nice portfolio, he knows and worked with top personalities in the industry. So, I gave it a shot, I agreed about the online show starring me!

Project Astrotrain production note 2

The big day is here! The event we’re working on will be tomorrow, above is the poster design created by Myke Soon, and then below the rough sketch is our design peg for the poster. I drew it in Starbucks Coffee SM Arena before we watch the Wilson Philips concert.


Oh di ba? the final poster is so cute! thanks to Myke Soon for the final drawing and coloring it. We started inviting bloggers few days ago and I’m glad that the numbers are okay, we’re not comfortable yet, because we’re going to wait if all of them will attend. As of now we have 34 bloggers for the Movies and Music Block and then we have a total of 15 bloggers for the Gadgets Block.

I’ll be in Podium tomorrow starting 10am,I’ll help around in the pre production and also welcoming our bloggers. This event is the 2nd year of Astroplus’ bloggers event, and it’s a partnership event with me for Azrael’s Merryland Blog and Myke Soon’s Mixofeverything Blog.

Okay..cross fingers and hope there will be no rain and floodings.

Project Astrotrain production note 1

I was informed about this event partnership project few months ago and now we’re doing some digital work and we need to finish it for 2 weeks. Me and my partner went busy on some days and until we go the green light to organize it with them. Our job is simple and our contribution is a big help for their growth, but we need to be strict and make sure that everything will go well and much more better from the 1st event that they organized. I encountered some problems on my end, and I mentioned it on my previous blog post, its like a chain reaction and this Project Astrotrain is also affected.

I put up an event website, drafted some ideas, then my partner started to move and we collaborated some work online, thanks to Google! We also had a meeting even before the start of a big concert and then there I drafted a peg for a mascot or a design for the website and poster.

The next week, my partner design a nice layout of the mascot and it was really nice. We need to move forward and the big event schedule is few days away… omfg… I need a miracle now.

7th Christmas Toy Fair production note 2

Another month to go for the upcoming 7th Christmas Toy Fair and 2nd Philippine Die cast and custom car show 2012. I just can’t believe that we are on our 7th year organizing an event for Christmas, featuring all kinds of toys and hobbies, our event is the only grand toy event every Christmas season. If we battle head to head with tiangges and Christmas expo this December, our event is much different and we got all kinds of toys for you, thanks to our loyal exhibitors and sponsors for supporting our event every year. It’s a treasure hunt again for everyone!

I’m very excited for the 1st time for our Christmas Toy Fair here in Manila, because my son is an avid fan of Tomica die cast cars, Hot Wheels and other small cars. The event that partnered with us – the 2nd Philippine die cast and custom car show, will wow us again for a big exhibit of die cast cars provided by their toy car collectors. My son haven’t seen the show before and I’m sure he will go crazy and I must prepare my wallet in buying all kinds of cars he wants. Our primary target are Tomica die cast cars and also play set, we have a list already of things we need to buy, I think Php 5,000 is a good budget to start.

Codename: Siam Shade production note 1

I will hit one year already in doing this project and my anniversary with them will be on December 2012, and its weird because I haven’t included this in my production note blog. I’m writing some concepts again needed for the two popular season but I’m having a two weeks delayed due to my laptop broke down, I got tired and sick and now internet connection went dead. I was about to finish all my back logs last weekend but the internet connection are dead since Friday and when I called up the customer service, they told me that the next site visit to our home will be on Monday, so I’ll add more one week for my delay.

The 1st concept is the most critical because of the upcoming celebration and events for all, I haven’t sent any details on the next plan, but I was told that the most important concept paper is the last season for this year. I need a lot of research and do some test before I submit this concept paper, It will be a big challenge for me to make an effective campaign once more. I’m excited to finish this and submit it, what I need now is more creative juices and some sweet loving.

I was about to launch a new website,but according to my web consultant that I should get a new domain name and hosting and I should stop using those free blog platform, if the site is for commercial use, then I should get a budget and start getting our own hosting. I think that will have to wait for another month because I need to discard my old layout and design and transfer to another blogging platform that I used to hate. But I need to master it and memorize the loop holes of that blogging platform.

It will be busy week for me before October ends.

7th Christmas Toy Fair production note 1

Last week was our 1st ever meeting for the 7th Christmas Toy Fair, also dubbed as Christmas Toycon or Xmas Toycon, its our Christmas toy selling and trading event and we just can’t believe that we already reached the 7th year to organize another one, also the staff of Megatrade Halls are also changing, that’s why we need to orient and also share our event concepts to new and incoming staff.


Our Megatrade friend, Tin, will have her last week as one of the rep. of Megatrade, she coordinates with us for Toycon and to other big events in Megatrade Hall, she will be replaced by a new staff and we're excited to met here, because ToyCon is coming. I also heard that Megatrade is now equipped with 10 security cameras, now posted around the hall just to monitor any unusual activities and also be the eye in the ceiling.


There are lots of things need to finalize for the 7th Christmas Toy Fair, also I learned from my team that the 2nd Philippine Die Cast Car Convention will be held in our event, cool!, I’m excited for that also, because my son is now starting to have his own die cast car collection, I’m going to take him there on day 1 so that we can shop and buy new die cast cars for his cars collection.

I’m expecting that we will be releasing the details of the 7th Christmas Toy Fair, we have the date and venue already and also the pricing of booths, I’m waiting for the go signal from our even director for other details. I know that we have another meeting tomorrow, I think I’ll grab final details there.

In some side notes, we also started to talk about 12th Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention 2013, it’s a long way for June 2013, but we need to put our heads together, re-group and start ironing the details and cook some new concepts. I’m so excited, because some international personalities are having the interest to join with us, we want to grab the opportunity, but we need to study the details and plan it carefully, we just can’t release a big chunk of money to shoulder lots of expenses, but then after a small debate, we decided to go slow and go small for the meantine, target the national and maybe next next year…or in the year 2015, we can go international.

Who can tell, maybe in the future, Robert Downey Jr. can join with us, or someone from the toy and comics industry. We still have a long way to go, and I felt that we will start over again after 12 years of ToyCon.

C-lium Fibre Lose More Live More Journey production note: Final checkup for the #cliumlosemore

I learned that i already lose 10lbs yey! Its a great reward fore after having a month of diet, no fast food, no coca cola, no sugar, sleep for 8 hours and never skip meals.

From 220lbs last month, now i weigh 210 lbs. my tummy is still the same size 44 inches, but they suggested that i need more workout. Okay that will be next mission to lessen my tummy to 35 inches

Blood extraction session welcomed me after i arrived hahhah, il figure out tomorrow if my cholesterol level goes down, well i hope.
