Snacking at Starbucks Coffee - my sandwich and no coffee

Perfect snacks - always in @officialstarbucksph
It's weird that I quit drinking coffee yesterday, its one of those meeting moments with my partner (wife) and
its our tradition that after working hours we always visit the nearest Starbucks Coffee branch and there we talk about over the top topics from social media, blogging, marketing and family. There are three more cafe here in our area, but we chose to stay here in Starbucks Coffee in SM Bacoor.

Don't worry, I didn't quit was just for that day only..just for a change.

But then I realized that I didn't enjoyed my sandwich bec. there's no hot brewed coffee to partner it.

lesson learned. hahaha.

movie trailer: "Bahay ng lagim" (Celso Ad Castillo) / National Film Festival

This film is a special feature added to the National Film Festival

A masters' master tribute seeks to honor the memory of Celso Ad. Castillo with the showcase of the last film he directed, Bahay ng Lagim. Taking place in a convent, the film follows the story of Sister Sofia whose life takes a grave turn upon the arrival of the troubled and haunted Fatima. The documentary, The Gospel According to the Kid, will also be shown, which brings us into the life of Celso Ad. Castillo himself and his works. - posted at Youtube page.

"Eman" movie not yet complete accdg to Tikoy Aquiluz / National Film Festival

Sineng Pambansa National Film Festival 2013 – All-Masters EditionI just read this news that the movie "Eman" an entry for the National Film Festival and directed by Tikoy Aquiluz didn't make it for the festival.

accdg to this news:

With only two days to go before the opening of the Sineng Pambansa National Film Festival All-Masters Film Festival, both the makers of “Eman” and the festival organizer, Film Development Council of the Philippines, have expressed optimism that the anticipated biopic of slain poet-warrior Eman Lacaba would be completed before the festival ends.

movie poster: "Badil" (Chito Rono) / National Film Festival

I just label this blog post a movie poster for Badil, I'm searching for the trailer of this movie and looks like no one has posted their trailer on the net. Let's check the poster and the story about election and political nightmare.

Nonoy is assigned to take over the role of monitoring and guarding a number of people who are in their list of voters committed to support their party candidates. Badil is a window into how flawed our basic political right has become.

movie trailer: "Tinik" (Romy Suzara) / National Film Festival

Its another gay movie... young and old guy romance.....
ok next... (bec. if ever I wanna watch a gay love story, I just like the movie without the sex scene..)
sorry..I'm not gay

"If you are gay, this is your story. If you are a lover, this is your story." Tinik promises an impartial study of homosexuality through the story of a middle-aged gay couturier and his attempts to hold on to his dignity amidst the dilemmas of his being a gay.

Starring Lemuel Pelayo, Alexis Navarro, Ricardo Cepeda

movie trailer: "Ano ang Kulay ng mga Nakalimutang Pangarap?" (Jose Javier Reyes) / National Film Festival

Nakalimutang Pangarap
I know there's a lot of drama in this movie, as I saw the trailer, I can feel already the emotion of the story. So what happens to your nanny that took care of you since you were young and then now she's old, what will the employer will do to her and to their old house where they lived since the beginning. Accdg. to my wife, this movie is good, but she don't want to watch it because it could make her cry.

"Ano ang Kulay ng mga Nakalimutang Pangarap?"
Teresa has dedicated sixty years of her life to the service of a middle class family at the expense of her own happiness and fulfillment. Now that the family's matriarch has died, the children who were under Teresa's care have to decide on the fate of their aged nanny.

Starring Ryan Agoncillo, Jackie Lou Blanco, Bobby Andrews, Bb. Rustica Carpio

movie trailer: “Ang Tag-araw ni Twinkle“ (Gil Portes) / National Film Festival

Ang Tag-araw ni Twinkle
This is my first time to see Ellen Adarna as one of the lead character in the movie, They say that this is her 2nd movie, but then according to her it was her 1st movie. Arnold Reyes who plays as a former NPA and biological dad of Ellen Adarna aka Twinkle, he performed not only in acting, but also making himself malnourish for this film to add realism that he has cancer and then make himself fat again and then thin again. Arnold Reyes said that it was a "buwis buhay" acting for him for this movie. My interest is to see Ellen Adarna speak and act, haven't seen her having a lot of screen time anywhere even in local tv, and also how Arnold Reyes' transition from a healthy man up to a sick man.

"Ang Tag-araw ni Twinkle"
Twinkle is a rebellious young lady undergoing drug rehabilitation spends time in the company of her adoptive parents -- a retired Army general and his wife -- and her biological father, a former NPA leader with terminal cancer.

Starring Ellen Adarna, Chris Villanueva, Arnold Reyes

movie trailer: Otso (Elwood Perez) / National Film Festival

Its  in Black and White and filmed around Manila. When I saw the trailer, I thought that its a thriller based story, but suddenly it became a bit disturbing. Its the reality on what's happening here in Manila especially in a crowded residential area and also at dark. The female lead here in the movie is interesting too :)

With hopes to reconnect with his roots, Lex returns to Manila and writes a screenplay for an indie film based on his neighbors. In the process, he discovers that his illusions of filmmaking, romance, and the city itself are at odds with the truth.

Starring Anita Linda, Monique Azerreda, Vince Tanada

movie trailer: "Sonata" (Peque Gallaga & Lore Reyes) / National Film Festival

This is the only entry in the festival with tagalog, english and Ilonggo language, that's why there's a need for subtitle. Its a very interesting story and also cute story,  about an opera singer who fell apart bec. of love, and one young boy helped her to bring back the energy to perform once more. I'm listing this in my top movie to watch for the National Film Festival.I like the concept and I'm curious about if this will go musical in some part of the movie. Btw, Cheerie Gil is still hot!

Sonata is the story of a woman whose whole life is her art, and when she loses it, she loses her hold on the world until a young boy brings it back to her doorstep. The movie features veterans Cherie Gil and Richard Gomez.

Starring Cherie Gil, Chart Motus, Joshua Pineda, Chino Jalandoni

movie trailer: "Bamboo Flowers" (Maryo J. Delos Reyes) / National Film Festival

Bamboo Flowers
Filmed in every corners of Bohol and not usually in chocolate hills, but for other locations around Bohol. The movie is about growing up and being responsible at an early age. You'll see lots of kid actors here, I thought that it will be a bully movie like the diary of a wimpy kid, but its not..because its drama with story about, family problems, and love to conquer a dream.

"Bamboo Flowers"
Bamboo Flowers talks about the lives of the young and the old Boholanos who have adapted to the changing behaviors of their lifestyles because of the dawning or tourism, technology and the demands of new age.

Starring Mylene Dizon, Max Collins, Yogo Singh, Orlando Sol, Ruru Madrid

movie trailer: “Lihis“ (Joel Lamangan) / National Film Festival

Lihis Poster
Forget the movie Brokeback Mountain movie, according to Joel Lamangan, this movie script was developed even before the Brokeback mania hits the world cinema, there are many times that this script was rejected and now... with the new trend of gay story in movies and also TV series like the My Husband's lover, the movie Lihis can now fit in and I think everyone are now comfortable with it and to watch two gay NPA soldiers in a relationship. This movie should be called... My NPA husband's lover. For me this is very different, and first time to see gay NPA soldiers in love.

warning: the movie trailer is bit NSFW and R-18. ( see two hunks in a ping pong bout)

"Lihis"(Joel Lamangan)
Set in the 70s, two young male NPA warriors find themselves entangled in a web of frustrations, despair, and victory as they struggle to fight for their love in the middle of war against despotism and dictatorship.Lihis is a story of a fight for freedom and against bigotry.

Screenplay by Ricky Lee
Starring Jake Cuenca, Joem Bascon, Lovi Poe, Isabelle Daza, Gloria Diaz

movie trailer: "Lauriana" (Mel Chionglo) / National Film Festival 2013

Lauriana Poster copy
Here's the trailer of "Lauriana", they say that this is a psychologial thriller movie about domestic violence during the 1950s, the most interesting part here is that the movie is based on true events. I'm even sure if the boy in the film is the writer of this movie,or maybe one of his neighbor back in the old days in Quezon Province.
"Lauriana" (Mel Chionglo)
In 1955, the residents of a small idyllic village in Quezon are jolted to discover the dark, disturbing secret of
a soldier and his common-law wife. The incomprehensible act takes the protagonists on a six-decade journey to find remorse, retribution, and forgiveness.

Screenplay by Ricky Lee
Starring Bangs Garcia, Allen Dizon, Victor Basa, Adrian Cabido

Interview with director Mel Chionglo about his film Lauriana and the National Film Festival

Sineng Pambansa National Film Festival 2013 – All-Masters Edition
Mel Chionglo

here’s my interview and conversation with director Mel Chionglo, he known as the director to these films - Dyesebel (1990), Babaeng hampaslupa (1988), Teenage Marriage (1984), Loretta (1994), Lagos sa laman (1995), Lahar (1996), Burlesk King (1999), Lagarista (2000), Isinakdal ko ang aking ina (1997) more info here

“The movie, Lauriana, is about love and obsession that went wrong. An imprisonment by love that is not really true love. Based on a true story and written by Ricky Castillo, its about a boy who witness a domestic violence during the 1950's in a town in Quezon Province.

This is the 2nd festival, but its the first for the all-master directors to come together in one festival, at first it was called Sineng Pambansa before and then it was titled to National Film Festival, we have to admit that there's a great frustration with indie film makers, our audiences are not that receptive to independent films, there's this idea to bring together the veteran directors, the directors of the mainstream that have done considerable works that made it to the box office, to do indie films, films of their own choice set in their own home town or province, for my movie, we filmed it in Quezon Province. We want to see how it sell in this festival, its like MMFF, but hopefully it will create some kind of impact in local audiences who might patronize our films.

Makati Staycation video featuring Tessa Prieto-Valdes

Here's an online video commercial featuring Ms. Tessa Prieto-Valdes. She introduces here the Makati Staycation - the ultimate staycation experience in Makati City, a Makati Staycation program presented by Make it Makati and Mastercard.

Makati Staycation: Enjoy a lot of perks and discounts with 4 iconic hotels and Mastercard

The Coladilla family in Raffles Makati’s Junior Suite Room

We started this hotel staycation habit in my family after my son who was 8 months old that time suffered from dust allergies and coughs after the big bang of new year, our city was covered with smog from firecrackers and even if we stayed inside an aircon room at home, our son still catches those dust and smog and he got some trouble in breathing, after that incident we promised that we should book a hotel and celebrate our new year in a nice hotel. Our first hotel staycation taught us many things – from organizing the things we need, experience a holiday celebration in a hotel, enjoy delicious food prepared by top chefs, and no more worries every new year.
